  1. hi harriette, the view from your balcony is amazing! i cant stop staring at the pool, it seems to merge with the lake like those infinity pool overlooking the ocean lol. im a fan of butterpaperstudio's works and thought of getting them to do my home. just like to check, how come you need to find your own contractor? i thought BPS has their own contractor, didnt know they just do the design work.
  2. wowowow, i'm not done reading your blog, only at page 7. i must say that i have shortlisted alan but after reading what you've wrote, i can feel my blood pressure rising and i've dropped him from my list.
  3. envy!! mine was march 2012 BTO and its only halfway done dunno when i can collect the keys.
  4. hi! not sure if you're still using an agent but i read in your earlier posts mentioning you dont know how to buy direct from taobao. in case you havent tried using taobao's official forwarders, you could! http://sea.taobao.com/market/act/parcelforwarding.php?spm=a214x.6760217.1745109.3.EyfRhz when you check out your cart on taobao, all you have to do is choose the 使用国际集运 option. its auto so you dont have to input the address manually. there are 3 official forwarders - 4PX, PRouter and Lequgo. personally i find 4PX to be the best. their CSO are quick and responsive and their shipping is also very prompt. so far no incidence of delays and lost parcels also. 4PX is also the only forwarder that collaborates with singpost so you have the option of using the popstation locker if you wanna self collect. i've been using 4PX for 2 years now and i find them reliable. most important thing is, no longer have to pay agent fees. last time before taobao started having parcel forwarding i used agent also and i paid so much agent fees.
  5. hi! i applied for a 3 room BTO as well and will be collecting my keys next year. you have excellent taste, and your mood board looks wonderful. i like the raw look too but do you think it will be a challenge to stick to the minimalist look? like im always worried about clutter like shampoo bottles and dishwashing liquid bottle at the sink etc. do you intend to hide them? oh and sorry to hear about the lousy workmanship! did you visit other projects done by the same company? i hope your problem will be settled soon. will be following your thread!
  6. those macaron cushions are da bomb! so pretty. franc franc closed down in sg already, u got them from overseas? your home is really beautiful, not easy for a guy to accept pastels.
  7. you have very good taste! love your choice of laminates. do you mind to PM me your contractor's details? thanks!
  8. hi! i was reading your first post and you mentioned the contractor cannot guarantee they'll work daily since your project is rather small? i didnt know got such thing. small project should finish early right, how long they intend to drag?
  9. ads please post at the relevant section, thanks. employees posing as satisfied customers, how low can you go?
  10. love your home! looks like those beautiful ones i saw from airbnb website
  11. hi! does anyone know whether the width of all HDB windows are the same? because your living room is 3450mm and you have so many windows, and mine is 3150 and only have 3 window panes. our difference in width is only 30cm and yet you have 2 more than me. so does that mean each window is only 15cm in width? i can't measure mine since i haven't collected my keys. been wondering for a long time.
  12. thanks so much for the input! wow i didn't know there are fake listings out there. on propertyguru it seems like most agents' listings are condo ones, or HDB rental. i seldom see HDB for sale. anyway i read that its better not to engage those "specialists' who so-called specalize in your area because it means they will several units from the same area on hand. they will bring buyers to see those units at one go and in short, those are actually your competitors so the chances of your unit getting sold will be lesser. what do you think about that?
  13. your home is sooo beautiful! definitely one of the more unique and tasteful ones i've seen here. would love details of your contractor too, please pm me? thanks in advance! collecting my keys soon
  14. my neighbor engaged a company to sell their flat and a whole bunch of agents came to view it. on propertyguru i saw that my neighbor's flat has been advertised 20 times by 20 different agents (from the same company). i mean, whats the point, i dont really understand. does that increase your chance of getting your flat sold? for about 4 months the flat remains unsold and it has been relisted and relisted. nobody came for viewing either. when i sell my flat in future, should i also do this open house thingy for all these agents? seem rather gimmicky and unnecessary to me.
  15. hi! super love your concept. may i ask which floor you're staying? looks like above 30 to me, the view is spectacular! mine will also be a 3 room BTO but will only collect the keys probably end of next year can't believe the tolix chair is so cheap on fortytwo.sg, but its sold out. i wonder if its difficult to sit on? i've seen those with an additional wooden chairpad, have you seen this before?
  16. thanks so much for the insight! i didn't even know there's such thing as colored PVC. i'm so noob. but i think PVC is good enough if its woodgrain, no need so many colors lol. i really like yours. my BTO will only be ready next year, there's so much to learn. love your kitchen as well. very bold colors yet it looks soothing! did you opt for ID or contractor? the workmanship looks really nice. p/s : not related to hojichalatte, i guess we both love lattes thats why haha.
  17. love love love your wardrobe! whats the price difference if you opt for colored laminates inside vs. white one? i really like colored ones like yours. it looks more "complete" somehow.
  18. your home is so tastefully done! do you mind to pm me your contractor's details as well? i know you must get this all the time. thanks in advance!
  19. i've been buying from taobao since 2011 but never bought big items like tv console, sofa or bathroom fixtures before, only clothes, bags, shoes and kitchenware like utensils and cakestands, plates before. i think lighting can still consider since they're usually quite cheap even for designer replicas like tom dixon. same goes for chairs like tolix or eames. maybe about 100 odd RMB so can buy. but i wont buy expensive or bulky items like sofa or dining tables since those are usually more ex and freight also has to cost at least $100. if anything goes wrong like if seller sent faulty or wrong piece its quite impossible to bring back to exchange. want to sell also dunno sell to who and its not something small that you can chuck in the store room and forget about it. whenever i shop at taobao, my preference is usually tmall since i think their stuff are better in quality. if its a taobao shop i will sort according to 销量 and make sure it has a lot of 成交纪录 and there are reviewers' pics. that way i can roughly know how my item looks like and whether or not it has 色差. of course online shopping has its risks but so far i can say that based on the way i search and narrow down, 80% of what i received are usually quite ok.
  20. thanks aron, that makes sense. i feel that $100 is too much too and my husband is not very happy about it so i guess i will find someone else. we called hongtar initially, they didnt tell me they wanted to remove the spoilt compressor but they said its against HDB rule to have 2 compressors on the aircon ledge. but we're not having 2 compressors! its just 1 spoilt compressor and 1 window unit, why cannot? i feel that we havent got much choice. many aircon shops do not carry window units anymore and those who do so keep insisting they wanna remove my existing compressor, really making life difficult for us :-/ we dont really wanna get it removed in case we decide to repair the split aircon or the new flat owners wanna repair it someday. how do i negotiate with these installers?
  21. we currently have a split system that is not working anymore. since we're moving in a year's time we do not want to reinstall another split unit system so we decided on a window unit. i called natural cool and they insist that they want to remove my current (spoilt) compressor and take it away to refurbish it, else if we want to keep it we have to pay $100 more. is such practice common? just like to hear your views. thanks.
