I saw a few shops selling Country Style/Victorian furnitures at the Furniture Mall.

Can I use the free waterheater from Citygas for rain shower? Will the jets be powerful enough? How long does the water takes to heat up? Is the citygas waterheater considered a storage heater? Lastly, which is the best water heater for overall use? Citygas heater, instant heater, or storage tank heater? Thanks for the feedback!

I need to know when can I start painting my house? I've only done the marble flooring for the living/dining, still waiting to do the parquet flooring. Should I wait until after marble polishing before I start to paint? I'm afraid the workers would dirty the walls again. Also, when they sand the parquet, will that dirty the walls too? Divine_genie, I think you should be more woried about baggage limit. I always have this problem when I go for holidays, end up have to put all the heavy stuff in hand carry, and pretend it's very light so that the crew wouldn't check! My problem is my contractor seems more gan cheong than me, keep pushing me to make up my mind fast, and kept reminding me it takes 2 weeks to do the carpentry. Just do whatever pleases you, don't be afraid, no need follow the current trend, which will change anyway. For myself, I prefer the natural look, stone stone everywhere. The only thing modern are the crystal chandeliers, which come to think of it, is not exactly a modern choice since for ages people like crystal chandeliers, should say it's more of a classic choice for me. Where can I find quartz countertops? Is the quartz also a natural stone or a man-made material? I'm still having a headache over my countertop. I would NEVER do Corian or other types of solid surfaces, don't like man-made materials. Initially I wanted to do granite, but I've read that granite gives of radiation and is bad for health. I tried to ignore that fact, and still wanted to go for Bianco Romano granite, which is white and resembles marble somewhat. Then who knows the stone supplier told me that granite is poisonous and ask me to switch to marble or lavastone. Really thankful she reminded me again! She said black and red granite is the most poisonous of all granites. Marble is often used in Italian kitchens. I almost wanted Carrara white marble, then contracter/supplier told me white marble will turn yellow in the future! So I decided to go for lavatop, which gives off strong energy and is good for health. But lavastone is not pretty looking, comes in black or grey only. There're color lavatops through glazing but currently not available in Singapore as supplier can't find large enough kiln. Anyway, have yet to confirm anything, so might change to quartz if it's prettier looking. Can anyone tell me more about quartz countertops?

Same here, using Singnet, always experience disconnections. Use Starhub occasionally on another computer, download speed seems very much faster! So next time, might just switch to Starhub instead. See what hubby says...

My dog and I were so close! I can remember the last year of his life, few months before his passing, he still looked so well. He was smiling at me and looking so lovingly at me, and couldn't take his eyes off me! We were in my room. I walked left, he turn his head left to look at me, all the time with that loving smiling expression, I walked right, he turned right. I'll always cherish that memory! Most of the time, he just bochap me, and just sleep. Hee! So that memory is so precious! In his last days, he leaned heavily on me. In those early years, he wouldn't ever do that! I draw him close, he'll pull away! I'll cherish all those memories forever... Not forgetting to mention, my dad was the other person that was very close to him, every morning without fail, my dad will walk him. After his passing, I passed a photo of my dog and dad together taken on my dog's 7th birthday. They looked so good together! I told my dad to use that as his computer's wallpaper. He did that. Then 4 months after my dog's passing, my dad got tired of looking at the same photo everyday and decided to change it to a scenery one. That evening, when my dad shut down the computer, I think this was what happend: Normally all the icons will disappear leaving the wallpaper behind only. Then it'll shut off. But what happened was before the computer shut off, suddenly, the picture of my dad and my dog flashed across the screen for a few seconds before the screen shut off completely. Immediately my dad knew something was not right. He immediately on the computer again, all was normal. The wallpaper was the scenery one which he changed to. He quickly changed it back to the photograph of him and my dog again. After that, the computer shut down normally again. My dad felt that my dog doesn't want him to change the photo of them together to another wallpaper. Up to today, he still has that same computer wallpaper of himself and my dog together as a reminder of those days we had with him! My dad's experience with our dog makes me all the more convinced that my own experiences with my dog is real. Like I've read somewhere, if you're close to your deceased loved one, somehow there'll be at least ONE time the deceased will find a way to make some contact.

Hi applefreak, actually I'm more of a side sleeper! But anyway will try to notice which position I'm in the next time it happens. Maybe you're right as I think most of the time, I'm sleeping facing up when it happens. So what do you think it is, some spirits or do you accept the scientific explanation for such occurances? Many years ago when I was still a kid, my blanklet was covering my nose when it happened. I was struggling so hard and couldn't breathe well since the blanklet was over my nose! After that incident, I made sure when I sleep the covers are well below my nose level.

Just on Tuesday night, I experienced something strange. I was watching my downloaded programme on my computer, the computer volume was up, then suddenly, I heard my dog's cough. I also heard some other movement and sounds, quite noisy. All these just beside my ear! I was very startled as I was alone in the room and my heart was beating fast. My dog passed away in March this year. I thought maybe he came to say hi to me. I lowered the volume, and there was silence. I listened for while for anything, nothing. Then I upped the volume again. Then again, I heard my dog's cough and other noises. I lowered the volume and talked a while to him, actually I can't see anything. I cannot find any words to say except I miss you, take care of yourself, we'll meet again. I know he knows how I've been feeling all these while after he's gone. So there's nothing much to say. I'm glad he visited me. You can say it's all my imagination. Then again, why would I be watching my favourite cooking programme on computer, and having my dinner, and suddenly "imagine" I heard his cough? Sometimes I want to be logical, but really, I think no point trying to find "logical" explanations and just believe what I think it is. Also, 24 hours after his passing, I received his call. Don't ask me how a dog can call his owner! My only logical explanation for that call is that it's paranormal. Why? 1) Because my handphone number is new, not many people know my number. 2) It's not a prank call nor a wrong number call as most prank callers will only wan to do deep breathing or not speak up at all or say some stupid things. And who is so free to make prank alls to me at that ungodly hour in the morning! Most wrong number callers after realising it's a wrong number will hang up. But the caller was talking normally and when I ask him to repeat, he repeated what he said. The whole call was wierd because the caller sounds like he was speaking English yet I couldn't understand a word that was said. Up till now I try to recall but cannot even understand a thing except that I think he was trying to tell me something or explain something. Just that I dunno what! Is it to explain his sudden departure because I didn't know he was leaving, I still thought he could be healed! 3) The call was at 5.50am, exactly 24 hours after his passing. 24 hours is a significant timing for the dead to contact their love ones. I did some resarch on the internet on phonecalls from the dead and found that out. I didn't imagine the call as my husband was sleeping beside me and he heard me talking on the phone at that unearthly hour. The number was reflected in my phone for me to verify that the call really happened! 4) It was an unknown call, untracable. Like most calls from the dead. 5) I was pretty spooked out by the call, I couldn't bear to hang on to the phone any longer, I hung up! I wish I didn't now and waited for the caller to hang up. But I didn't know what to think at that time. I was half thinking it's HIM, but I thought that's impossible and illogical! I also thought it's a prank caller, so in the end I hung up first as I was too spooked! I'm sorry I did, I actually tried to ask him to call me again, but no more such calls.. Sorry for all the ramblings. I'm pretty bored AKA too free in the office for days already. Need an outlet to ramble off...

I've a few experiences throughout my life. The most common is the oppression, where I'm sleeping, then suddenly awaken and realise I cannot move. For quite a while, I decided to believe in the scientific reasoning that cause this common phenomenon. Then one day, I changed my mind and start to believe I'm being disturbed by spirits. After being constantly disturbed, as often as everyday, one day, after shaking off the oppression as usual, I happened to look up and noticed the air above me was swirling. Subsequently, I noticed whenever I'm being attacked, I'll look up and observe the swirling movement of the white mist, sometimes black. I'll command the thing to go away and not disturb me! There was once I noticed and suspect there're actually more than one spirits based on my observation of the swirling movements. I told my mum about it, and she somehow sensed there were 6 in total. Not sure about that figure, but I've been battling these entities for a long time. I stay way from horror movies now or anything that can act as a channel for these things to disturb me. Once after being attacked, I awaken, then bf happened to be awake beside me, I quickly told him it's here! i ask him to look up and see if he can see the white swirling mist, he said he cannot! I dunno is it because he dare not really look! Normally, I wait till it dissipates completely because I'm rest assured enough to continue sleeping. Or it'll come back and attack again! Now, the frequency of these attacks have lessen alot. Probably because I'm more aware of how to tackle these things after experiencing these for years! At one state, the oppresions happened so frequently and the hold was so strong that there was a pressure in my right ear. once, when under the oppression, I said to myself, well it's only my right ear, my left is safe! Then immediately, I felt a pressure in my left ear too! They can read my thoughts.

It's a Samsung, 300L small fridge. Looks ok to me. We did ask the meter people to check, they say it's correct! Our gas bill, is already $30 per month for boiling 1 small kettle daily! Didn't know boil 1 kettle costs $1! From what I know, before we moved in, owner has altar, which is on 24 hours. WITHOUT us, already their bill is $80! And they're hardly ever around! With us, bill shoot up to nearly $200. Current household usage for 2 pax: Samsung small 300L fridge - 24 hours Altar light - 24 hours Boil 1 small kettle of water per day - hubby boils it at FULL blast! (perhaps that's the reason for high gas comsumption? ) Cook - almost zero! Mit. Ind. Aircon - around 9-12 hours daily at night 5 kg Alba Washing Machine - needs 2 washings once a week. Computer - at the most 5 hours ave. daily Lights - Hardly at home. around 7pm-1am. Male owners comes home occasionally to bathe, watch TV, pray to his idol, etc. That's all! Last time in condo, usage is much higher, 4 pax + 1 large dog, yet bills are lower!

Our bill is ridiculously high for a 4 room HDB flat, 2 pax, which we're currently renting. Bill is $100+ nearly $200! And we're hardly at home. That time we went for a tour, not around for 10 days, yet bill was still very high, still in $100+ region! !! Last time I stay in condo, total 4 pax + large dog. Around $160+ per month only. Don't know what's up with HDB, not cheap at all!

Sometimes it doesn't come with shades maybe because the chandelier is too small and standard size shades are too big for it. Mine doesn't come with shades too, the saleman tried to put shades on and it was just too big. Not a problem for me as I only admire the crystals and don't look directly at the bulbs. But my husband has a probelm with chandeliers without shades, so our next purchase has to have shades.

Actually I didn't want hood at all since in the previous house, we had a chimney hood for so many years and hardly/never use it at all! I went around telling the salesmen I'm only looking for cooker, not putting hood! Then later I changed my mind, because one salesman said why not buy a cheap one which can protect your cabinet? Those flat hoods are pretty cheap at only $200 or less if it comes in a package of hob and hood. Moreover it provide additional lighting source and at the same time suck up some grease if the need arises, like doing deep frying.

How much savings per month do you get from switching from non-invertor to invertor? My friend just told me his family of 4 electrical bill used to be $160-190 per month, after switching to Daikin invertor aircon, it dropped to $120 per month. Taking $40 as average savings, I reckon in 3 years time, should break-even. Then it's savings all the way! Is that a good gauge, or is the actual savings actually much lower? I reckon if break-even point is around 2-3 years, then I might switch to invertor air-cons. Any help appreciated. I'm thinking of buying a system 4 aircon. My usage is around 12 hours daily for one room only. Please help me to calculate.

Hi, I've came across a similar attractive brochure advertising kitchen cabinets at very attractive price. Thing is, it's just a gimmick to get attention. Not everyone's kitchen is 20ft long, so when they calculated, realised it's not cheap at all! Just a cheap gimmick. !!

Yes, the $200 vouchers are real Taka vouchers. I think it's quite worth it if you've time to spare. My parents attended, it's only an hour long, and they got treated to food and drinks before the presentation. Within the hour, as promised, they were ushered out for their $200 Taka vouchers. Just beware though, it IS timeshare. I heard Hyatt also coming out with their timeshare thingy, and I've read reviews saying it's actually cheaper to book online than book as a member for the SAME package. Keke, I guess it's only for suckers who believe they're getting a genuine membership.

My contractor calls it "System Doors". I'm doing it for my kitchen cabinets. I like the embossed look rather than plain looking cabinets. Hope mine turns out ok. Contractor did warn me that the door might not last long, must take care, but I think effect is too pretty, decided to give it a try. The red colour and white colour laminate I chose matches well, BUT the design is a little different. Argh! The white laminate I like comes in ribbed grainy wood texture. The red comes in shimmering checkers!!! Wish got that shade of red in that same ribbed grainy wood texture, but seems like don't have.

Hi GTeton, are you from the Aug balloting? My unit is doing the cement screeding today. I called the contractor, told him to do as thinly as possible. He said we mark out, they'll do accordingly. My husband went to mark on the walls. Luckily we went to check, they ignored our markings, and did their standard 4cm markings! I quickly mark 2cm under theirs, and cancelled theirs. Then today, we had to take leave and make sure the workers got the correct info. So far, cross fingers, looks like they're following our markings instead. I saw one worker bringing down the extra sand that they brought up. Gee, don't know why I find reno so stressful, as bad as taking exams last time! Oh, something dsigusting to share, our common toliet was used like a public toliet since we handed the padlock key over to the cement screeding contractor, dunno which idiot did his business there, never flush properly. There were s.hit smears underneath the toliet seat. DISGUSTING!! My husband had to hose it clean again.
