  1. thank you @kingandbin ! we were supposed to paint the aircon trunking in the toilet grey as the trunking is supposedly unable to support the tiles if we tiled over. Actually we kinda forgot about it and now it is still white. We are probably going to remind Nick to paint it grey because he still has some minor touch ups to do. I love the progress of your reno too it looks wonderful! congrats on your new home! @Starrain hahaha you are very fast! he was very quick to upload pictures of our home even before it was completed sure i i will pm you in abit!! so sorry for the delayed reply it's been a hectic few mths for me! i hope my reply doesn't come in too late!
  2. Thank you for your quick reply and for sharing the info!
  3. Hi @JohnJohn, do you mind sharing with me the cost of your counter top as well? My chosen countertop model is out of stock and I am currently looking for alternatives. Appreciate it, thank you!
  4. thank you so much @owlNbear for the reassurance, i would be thankful if my house turns out half as nice as yours! how's living in your new place? hope you're enjoying every bit of your crib!
  5. thanks for your quick reply! very nice though, i especially like all your DIY projects
  6. by the way, for the glass panel frame behind your sofa, are the thin white aluminium frames pasted onto the glass? i would like the same thickness of framing but my contractor said the only way to do so is to stick on the aluminium onto the glass..
  7. very nice!!! what a luxurious and cozy living room you have! would love to see your other lived-in areas if possible
  8. lucky you! i also requested for my contractor to customize a drawer around my ikea cutlery trays but he forgot end up he's fabricating one to fit in our drawers. your carpentry's looking great, i look forward to see more updates!
  9. @Starrain Haha oh I see, yup my kitchen sink has a concrete base, but is covered on all sides by carpentry and the countertop. Yes if i do not remember wrongly there is a wooden frame to support the hinges. I will take a photo on my next visit and show you.
  10. hello @Starrain you are right, i will not be having any doors under my vanity sinks for both toilets. You would probably like to refer to @owlNbear t-blog instead - she installed cabinet doors for her concrete vanity.
  11. @bykaraanne Wahhh that's huge savings indeed! thank you so very much for your advice previously, you were really pretty much the deciding factor for us to choose gas heater in the end haha. I haven't tried it yet but I do like the look of it already Yes I really can't wait for this to end..it's been an extremely long process especially for us
  12. @JohnJohn oh no i didn't realise 7th month was next month till u mentioned it! looks like we are all going to have to push them further then! your progress definitely looks almost completed though, i'm sure you can move in before end July!
  13. Installation of gas heater and carpentry updates Not sure if we are the chillest couple or what but our renovation is sure taking an awfully long time and we are only starting to get gancheong because it's a little too close to our wedding and so we are starting to chase Nick lol. Here are some updates in the meantime Thanks to @bykaraanne advice on gas heaters (it was really helpful for us!) - we decided to heed her advice and install the Macro brand as well. We haven't tried it yet..maybe will do a review of this once we take a shower or something here ahha. Carpentry was installed only week before but I must admit that the delay was largely due to us (or me ahem) being fickle-minded over the laminates. Please go to the laminate factory to have a look at the full sized samples because the small pieces will tell you nothing about how the whole design/grain looks like eventually. We were going back and forth over lighter shades of wood to darker shades..we ended up on the dark spectrum as evident below. Our shoe cabinet, with space below for us to slot in shoes which we wear more often. Kitchen cabinets not fully installed yet. And our wardrobe area which will also be a study area on the other side. Some boo-boos found during our inspection... 1) We wanted Nick to customize a drawer to fit the Ikea cutlery trays and we mentioned it many times but he was either too busy or he forgot. So he will be fabricating another one for us based on our current drawer's measurements. 2) Gap between shoe cabinet and db box was supposed to be wide enough to house a stool for us to wear our shoes but the gap ended up to be around 5cm wide. He wanted to box up the area and paint it but we are counter proposing that he inserts some planks to make a small shelving for us to leave our mails and keys instead. We will see how this goes.
  14. thank you i will check out both the WCs and taobao! yes it definitely suits your theme haha and the cow stool stood out because it's so cute and i have not seen something like that before! loved how you used different decor/furniture and yet it all goes so well together.
  15. wah that's quite cheap for toilet bowls..the cheapest i saw so far was at heritage for baron w-888 with geberit flush system for 300 plus i think - i shall reconsider changing my toilet bowls now haha. may i please ask where you got your cow stool/bedside table beside your bed? looks cute!
  16. so nice! i love your laminate choice for your wardrobe. looking forward to more updates!
  17. i'm also having a headache with my light planning..so thank you both @trcdand @ricepapergirl for all these posts! i will also check out chan huat one of these days..your track lights are very cute-looking and practical!
  18. what a lovely home! so cozy and homely looking forward to more photos! and your furbabies are adorable - the white one looks so sweet!
  19. Your house is huge and very well-maintained (looking at the parquet flooring and the condition of the MBR toilet)! Looking forward to see the transformation
  20. @d3n Nick's pricing is definitely competitive compared to the others I went to when I was comparing quotes, and I'm only halfway through so I cannot evaluate his workmanship yet until carpentry is up which should be within this month. Same as you - I had a rough idea in my head already so I was looking for a contractor to execute it out and provide technical advice and Nick was great during that meeting because he highlighted potential problems which would arise from what we wanted so it was all there and out in the open. We like that he was transparent and in-your-face kind of blunt. I had an experience with another potential ID who basically agreed to everything that I wanted which seemed like he was overpromising me. To be honest, my fiance and i are both very busy with work and the upcoming wedding hence we hardly have time to check on the progress too. I think engaging Nick would require that you also go down frequently just to check because he truly forgets sometimes because he's very busy. He requires a little push at times but he gets it done quickly when he's available to. Hope the above info helps. I think you have to meet him and decide for yourself if he's the one for you. Hello @NOTSomebody you can contact Nick at +65 9690 7887. You're welcome!
  21. Oops sorry i will drop you a PM! Haha thank you mine is only halfway there so it's too early to say LOL. I love your kitchen btw - the herringbone flooring and shaker style cabinets..maybe for my next home. Edit: Ahh i just tried to send u a PM but your inbox is full too!
  22. Hi Malaxo! Congrats on your little bun and completed reno journey! Could you please share Jeffrey's contact with me? He sounds really nice! Thanks!
  23. Hello @d3n , i checked with Nick and he will be getting his registration in Sep - currently processing now. I agree that there is a certain risk going along with him considering that he's quite sui bian in certain areas but he has proved to us that he's trustworthy and reliable especially in terms of delivering results (which was of more importance to us), hence we still went along with him. I'm still halfway through my renovations so perhaps you would like to drop by again when I have updates. In the meantime, if you still have your reservations, I would recommend you check out other IDs and contractors first.
