Sink support is not to make your solid surface strong, it is just to provide support to whatever you place on top of it, ie. your sink, stove & solid surface. The base of all our kitchen cabinet is cement-built. This sink support is to build 2 walls using bricks at both side. The rest of your cabinet frame structure will be made of wood if you wanted it. This wood frame can hide/cover your bricks wall if you find it too old fashion I even asked my contractor to build another bricks wall in the centre of my long kitchen cabinet where I do my chopping work.

Any Good Recommendation For Lightings Outlets
yokine9a replied to meridan's topic in Home Furnishings
Hi, for those who have been to Number One Lighting at Geylang, do you know if that shop sells ceiling fan? Thanks in advance -
Well, I have concrete support for my basin & stove. Want to have concrete support is really up to individual. With the humid weather in Sgp, I just want to have a peace of mind without worrying that water will slowly find its way into the wooden cabinet later on. Do make sure your contractor apply waterproof sealer generously on all the joint/edge areas for your wooden cabinet.

Wah, applefreak, you want to buy private property ah? I thought you only want to downgrade? From what I know, after you have bought a HDB flat, you can go ahead to buy any private property, HDB won't stop you leh. But you got to keep that flat for 5 yrs before selling it away, not sure if you can rent it out while waiting for the 5 yrs

Duro brand can do that. With just 1 key, you can open all the 3 locks (padlock, gate & main door). Just drop by the HomeFix stores.

Hi Snowie, I need lightings for my ceiling fan, so KDK is out for me. But I quite like the design of this KDK low ceiling fan, simple yet elegant

Amasco 48" / 50" 3-blade Acrylic Fan
yokine9a replied to chen08's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
Hi, wonder did you go for this fan eventually? Saw it last night & am considering it too. -
Thanks Byr, I hope so too, else my bf will jump on me for wasting $$ to install ceiling fan I went to Balestier last nite & am now hesitating if I should go for 5-blade or 3-blade type. My ceiling is very low, living hall only 8 feet high without false ceiling. Most 5-blade fan comes with 4" downrod, I doubt they will look nice in my house due to the low ceiling. As I need lighting on my fan, my options on 3-blade fan are limited. The worst thing is, the design for 3-blade fan is almost the same for any brand, very 1970s classroom style. Fanco & elmark have aluminum blade only. I think amasco has acrylic blade. Don't know what to choose now

Hi applefreak, maybe you would like to share with us the shop selling a scanteak bookcase at $199. Sounds like a good deal This one can't explain, got to IKEA liao
-
What that IKEA guy said is true, you cannot assemble, disassemble & reassemble a chipboard furniture & still hope it will stand strong. Not only IKEA furn, all chipboard furn are not strong enough to go thru this kind of multi-assemble process.

Door Frames And Color
yokine9a replied to leongheng70's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
My living room is painted light green colour, I painted my main door orange colour. My bedrooms are painted light blue & purple colour with their doors painted in peach colour. As long as you like it, you are free to paint any colours to your house -
I think so, cos my bf drove me there. Don't know its address, only know it is somewhere in the North, near to Yio Chu Kang. Can't think of other furn malls right now. I didn't go to parkmall for my furn shopping. That is a high-class place, poor people like me can't afford their stuff

Spam chop chop Have you selected your ID? Any 3D to show the design theme of your house?

Agree with yokoyoko Do what you like & live within your means.

IFC - Intl Furniture Club Diff class/concept to meet diff customer's taste, from down-to-earth, resort theme, modern classic to luxury. You can find a $500 stool & $70 bedside table in diff shops over there.

Chipboard = lousy quality, do avoid unless budget constraint. Solid wood = better quality, choose this. More costly. I bought their arm chair, coffee table, tv console, dinning set, chest cabinet, bookshelf n bedside table. All are solid wood, no problem so far.

All the brands are ok, just different design. So we go for something we like. Of course you should only choose those tested & approved by the relevant authority. HDB is pretty strict on this due to potential fire hazzard. I want big buttons, so I go for Legrand. MK, Clipsal are good brands too.

Are you referring to padlock? Try HomeFix stores, look for this brand "Duro".

Hi Byr & applefreak, thanks for the explanation. I think i have seen the pic of aroma fan, the lights look like a fried egg sticks to the bottom of the fan I know what I can do liao. I want to avoid running extra set of wiring as I am disappointed with my contractor, I try to avoid calling him again. Now, I can just buy the ceiling fan & pay the shop to do all the installation work. I have managed to sweet-talk my bf & he agrees to let me go for ceiling fan
-
Sorry if I have asked a stupid qtn If I have an existing lighting point with light bulb on it, can I install a ceiling fan with light kit using this point & use pull string to control fan speed, without running extra set of wiring?
-
Mine was just for kitchen only. Not easy to buy your own sand leh, transport, manpower, disposal... how do you estimate how much you need? Why not tell your contractor that $900 is too much & bargain with him further??
-
Another place you can try is Jalan Besar, many lighting shops.
