  1. My kettle can boil 5L of water in 20 mins using mid flame. You concern is speed or cost? If you want to boil the water in a fastest way, go for electric kettle... if you want to save some $$, cos gas is cheaper than electricity, then go for stove kettle.
  2. I am also using Supreme AC5 for slightly more than a yr now. No problems too. I use sponge mop to clean the laminate floor, & I squeeze the mop till pretty dry before mopping the floor. Wah, lawry, you are brave to use wet mop to clean the laminate floor. You are not afraid that your floor board will absorb too much water & warp meh?
  3. At the same time, you need to leave a small gap between your fan neck & the false ceiling, else when you fan vibrates during spinning, it will knock against your false ceiling & crack it. A better way is to do L-box instead of false ceiling.
  4. Hi, anyone has some tips to share for laminated floor mopping? I am currently using 3M sponge mop. Find it very tiring after mopping, wish to switch to another easier & faster system. Thanks.
  5. Hmmm, who is this big guy from Bedok ah? Very famous person?? sohck, do check for additional feature you might like to have in carpentry, eg. soft closing mechanism, matching laminated surface for inner side.
  6. Congrads, collecting keys today rite? Doing all the ceremonies of opening door like rolling pineapple? Wah, not bad leh, Ah Soon still remembers you. I suppose you will invite him to your new place to quote?
  7. Can also try to recycle by giving away to those who need http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SgFreecycle/
  8. Hi charemme, there are several brands on the market... common ones are supreme, kronotex & pergo... pergo m'sian AC4 is slightly more exp than supreme AC5, but worth to consider. Supreme AC5 is from m'sia, but kronotex AC5 is from europe. Go for pergo if you have the budget... AC5 would be the best option.
  9. Try the contractor who did Jaskel's Florida Condo... Can find pic of his house in t-blog. The carpentry work is very good.
  10. Don't know true or not... I am using granite top for my kitchen cabinet too... but when my tiler was installing my sink, he misunderstood it as undermount sink, so he started to do what was needed for undermount sink... Luckily I was there & quickly stopped him... So, in the end, my granite top was up, then the sink sat on top of it with silicon sealed at the edge. Maybe you should clarify with uncle Ah Soon. I know how your old sink is like... my previous owner used that kind of sink too...
  11. Hah, the baroque guy can rush to your place within 20 mins upon receiving your phone call, & produced a quotation within 3 hrs?! I find it sceptical... does it mean that this company has no biz to do, sitting in the office waiting for customers?? Hmmm, if an ID can match the price of contractor, no harm to go to him since he should be able to produce 3D diagrams with design concept. Good luck in your choice
  12. Every thing under the sun will go thru wear & tear, be it topmount or undermount sink To gauge the workmanship, you have to ensure the silicon is thick & apply evenly, with no holes or gaps. wait aubrey, I have been following thru your t-blog, I thought you are moving back to your renovated house today?! How come you are still toying between top or undermount sink?? What is the mounting mode of your old sink? If you & your mom are comfortable with that way of using a sink for the past 30 yrs, I think it is ok to stick to it ba
  13. Hi new, so you won't be considering jaskel's contractor? Have to admit that his house is very nicely done up
  14. You have a 3rd choice, which is to spray a coating over existing tiles if you just don't like the tiles design. The price I gotten from jaskel, one of the forumer here is this: $1.8K is for 1 kitchen & 1 or 2 toilet floor (it a HDB promotion package offering right now). $3.1K is for 1 kitchen & 1 or 2 toilet wall. Kitchen floor only $1.5K, Kitchen wall only $2.6K, 1 Toilet floor only $900, 1 Toilet wall only $1600. Might be cheaper to overlay... you can go to his t-blog for more pic.
  15. No, sediment flooring in jaskel's house is some sand coatings permanently sticked onto the existing tiles, come with water proofing treament... goto jaskel's t-blog for more pic & contact.
  16. If you are looking for some permanent sand coatings on the tiles, go to t-blog & look at Jaskel's Florida Condo page... he used a chemical spray coatings on his floor & wall tiles... I have been to his house, the floor is quite rough, won't feel slippery.
  17. I bought IKEA solid pine dining table with 4 chairs... more than a yr now... no problem so far.
  18. Leaking for undermount will be unlikely unless the workmanship of your worker who applied the silicon is no good… but replacement for undermount is tedious & almost impossible without damaging the table top and/or bottom cabinet. I have topmount sink in my house but my parents’ place is using undermount sink… I don’t have the habit to sweep water from table top into the sink, so no much diff to me in terms of day-to-day usage.
  19. Can't remember leh. Actually I have the name card of that shop...maybe you can ring them up before dropping by... must go back home to dig. Pls send me a PM to remind me for it
  20. Do you stay near to TPY? There is a shop at block 85C lorong 2 in TPY that displays a few brands of laminated flooring they carry. I remember seeing Pergo & Power Deker.
  21. Well, it is good that you keep your options open. Although it would be tiring for you to repeat your requirements to each & every ID/contractor, I belive in finding the most comfortable person to work with in renovation. Nevertheless, just don't go to Ho Bee... they are not as good as before. BTW, how was your discussion with Ideal? I thought they are not bad as I remember seeing some good comments on this company.
  22. Pic will be good for us to visualise your problem. Most undermounted sink are using cement to mount to the table top... since you are replacing with a bigger top mount sink, very likely the surrounding solid surface will be damaged... not sure if you can cut a small piece of solid surface & join it with existing one... cabinet below might be ok but can't comment much without pic. Solid surface is usually customised made according to the exact length of sink, hob & bottom cabinet... since you are changing hob at the same time, should consider to redo the whole solid surface.
  23. I think you should try the method another forumer did to Ah Soon... ie. give him 夺命追魂 call every now & then to make sure he will turn up for your appointment
  24. That is the reason why I don't recommend my contractor to any of my friends now. You are lucky to have Ah Soon. My contractor didn't even bother to check my kitchen cabinet... whenever I have qtns to ask on the cabinet, he would get his carpenter to answer my queries... he didn't want to get involved. I didn't notice those mis-drilled holes till I moved into the house... Sigh, the cabinet looks ok from outside, but lousy quality on inside.
  25. Yeap, biz too good might mean that quality would drop bcos he might not be able to cope. But the most important thing is his attitude, if he closes one eye & wants to give sub-standard work in order to meet deadline, then you can drop him. I suggest you meet up with him before you decide your next action. Meanwhile, you might want to check on this guy. Rondy & Angel81's flat was done by him. Quite a responsible guy.
