mm ya I think so also.. L-shape can only do sliding on one side at max.. not possible with two sides... But if you want all consistency then maybe all casement is better? mm you don't have pictures of the laminates wor.. so cannot advise on that...

mm Mine is chronic eczema... inherited from my mom. I didn't inherit her skinny body, fantastic porcelain skin, big eyes... but inherited this kind of problem... BLEH. Likewise mine was bad in Pri sch, with my eyelids, lips swollen every other day... then in sec school I had hives (hong mok) almost every day... then in JC my fingers began to rot. Until today my fingers would swell, peel and bleed... So I needn't do housework. HEHE can be the vase.... Water aggravates the problem for me though... my doc says to keep dry but moisturized.. haiz MMmM might try it tomorrow (for my third run) though I cannot stand the smell. what is Yoyo ah? heh glad you enjoyed it I finally got down to putting up all my fave posts at the side.

ok. Maybe the experience I had with mine will help... My two toilets were leaking and they had to be rectified before completion. But HDB checked with the owner upstairs and the owner would not be around until one week before my completion... and because they would not be enough time for rectification to be done, HDB asked both parties (us and the sellers) if they would sign the liability to us and pay US for the works to be done. Since the seller and us did not want the completion to be delayed and we were going to do renovation for a month after completion anyway we signed a document that said that we were willing to accept the money (from the seller) for rectifying the leakage AFTER completion (when the flat has already under our name). Your technical officer should be able to help you on this. therat is right on saying that HDB will check just before completion to make sure everything is intact. Just before they do down to check, you can just give the person a call and ask her (nicely) to pay attention to the above.. Just warn the seller agent that if all is not done, you will not be able to complete on the right date and threaten NOT TO PAY commission to either of them so let them go and psycho the sellers. I DID THAT TOO.. 5 days before completion we noticed that the house still had a lot of rubbish lying around. I called the agent and told her that I want a completely empty house.. not even curtains and told her that I would not pay her commission if it's not done. So she can jolly well go and clear it for all I cared. Anyway she needed to earn her money right? haha and it was very effective.

I promised to do this on every page so that other new readers will not be misled. For newcomers, people who intend to renovate and people doing homework early. 1) All renovation has its hiccups. Simply because we are humans. Some people experience more hiccups, some less. Same goes for Uncle's clients. Some of us had more problems than others. If you look carefully and actually note down, you'll notice that it's not consistent. This could be due to a number of reasons... some of which involves Uncle, some not. 2) Do your homework. Not just which ID/contractor is good on the forum... but as you read, you should take note of little tricks and tips that people do when they are having their reno... write them down so that you can also do them when it's your turn. Stuff like labelling tile samples and leaving them in the house, drawing the actual electrical points on the walls of the house, marking crosses on stuff to be hacked.... Small stuff. These will come in useful not just in dealing with Uncle but with ANY ID or any contractor... especially when some of them try to spoonfeed you with rubbish information. 3) Get as many quotations as you can. I know it's tiring and it's troublesome and sometimes even humiliating... I've been through all that. But get them. At least 8? 10? 15? I had about 20 I think. I can't really remember and I trashed them. Get enough to convince yourself that you have seen enough to say that you like the person's mannerism, work style, reputation, workmanship for that PRICE.... so that you will regret less later on. I've come across some owners who insist on getting Uncle's contact and want to engage Uncle with just very few quotations in hand. I advised them against this and really beg them to go get more. 4) There are plenty of contractors and IDs in Singapore with different range of services, different approach in dealing with people and different prices to offer. The only reason why you keep seeing Uncle Soon's name around this forum is not because he's the ONLY contractor but simply because it just so happens that a number of forummers are currently having their houses done by him. Please go look through at least 3-4 of the following T-blogs - mrspiglet's, smallboy's, fondue's, familyof4's, ivy's, aubrey's, jesperbg's, ashes02's, Native02's, pinkpetter's, Metalsubzero's, gaku70's, growler's, guy77's, blue_diamond's, apples'...... if I missed out anyone.. SORRY LA... very difficult to remember leh. 5) Everyone has varying standards of carpentry. What you may find acceptable may not seem so to another person. Don't take someone's word for it. Go see it for yourself and decide if you think it's acceptable. By that, I don't mean viewing showrooms. I think showrooms are trash. They put together the best stuff with a big budget, which may not be what you will be given anyway. Go see someone's home. It's even better if you manage to get the owner while you're there so you can have a glimpse at whether the owner is happy with the contractor. **NEW** 6)Try your best not to announce that you need an ID/contractor or need a certain contractor's contact. You'll find your inbox flooded with PMs, some from legitimate IDs some from Fake owners. Read through T-blogs and PM the owners of the blogs for their ID/contractor's contact. It's a lot safer that way. -

haha Hi Thommy! I'm glad that you read this carefully. Do read a few T-blogs too! I hope that you will take all Uncle's good and bad points into consideration while deciding an ID/contractor. At the end of the day, we all come here to learn more and make informed decisions ya? -
mmm risis.. think you must think about how the things around it will match that shoe cabinet ba. Then you decide on the colour. for example.. are you going to get a settee beside it? a small stool? what colour do you think the stool will be? etc...
-
Found it. Scroll to near-bottom of the page... you should see her new kitchen cabinets. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...19208&st=40 She hired the carpenter from S&C - a furniture shop. I initially wanted to also but decided to get ready-made ones in the end. You might want to get him to quote. But... honestly... if you only do the bottom cabinet, even if you choose the same laminates, it will look different. If you really have budget constraints or don't want to deal with so much dirt, I suggest you choose totally different laminates but those that still kinda match. Eg, if the original is white you can choose black for the bottom. IMHO
-
......... EH when you say do partial... means the worktop will also change right? or you want to put the worktop back on the new cabinets? Then your hob? mmm There is a thread where the owner got a good carpenter whom I also happen to know.. i look for it for you...
-
True true true... mmm I can vouch for that. whaha Anyway... mrspiglet.. my skin very sensitive leh... cannot do housework even if I want to.... lol.... skin will rot.... lol lol Then if have to spend money on seeing doctor that'll be very expensive...
-
eh I only just saw this... was wondering why then I noticed that it's during the period I MIA. hahaha I'm just happy I have more time to sleep.. didn't plan to go anywhere. I'm sure your sister tells you that too. haha As for Uncle... chase chase chase. Source for a few more quotes also ok? make an informed choice ba. But I guess if you start after 7th month you can choose tiles, finalise drawings then... cos I think uncles will have a little more time then too.. mmm

mm I will usually keep to the same laminate within a room la. But if you want to have some variety you can mix the current laminate with laminate of the same pattern but much darker shade (brown) OR mix with black mirror pieces?
