YUP! At most buy some stuff for them lor. My dad and I always ask for stuff.. but we also treat them with lunches and teabreaks so they were always ok with things.

can I say something? mmm Uncle completed my reno in 30 days... we moved in on the 31st day. At that point of time we still have some minor stuff not done and some rectifications.... So Uncle planned 4 trips to come and do. Every single time.. he say it wouldn't be too dirty, it's quite obvious that his standard of dirty is a little different from ours... We had to clean and mop so many times after they leave.. and often they leave after 8pm. We clean and mop until 11plus then everyone shower and my mom wash clothes and I help her until 1am.. then next morning have to go to work early... Both my mom and I cried ( as in really cry). Both of us were so tired then and it was so suffering. And no matter how much we cleaned, we still felt that it was dirty and couldn't sleep properly every night. Even when we closed all the bedroom doors to let them do the work outside... somehow the rooms felt very dirty, the beds felt dirty and my skin (sensitive) suffered so much I had to go to the doctor to take jabs cos I was breaking out in rashes every night. I had pimples too. sigh. If possible.. really.. move out is a better option.

Although in your floorplan, it shows that the wall is not a beam and is "hackable" in theory but HDB will check the approvals they have given to the flats in your block. If the neighbours above and below you have hacked quite a bit and you hacking yours will cause a risk, they might deny also. Top floor flats tend to have most things approved.. some even beams can be hacked. Flats on lower levels really have to rely on HDB's ruling.

the house had cornices when we bought it. It's quite a simple design so I'm ok with it. Cornices come in many different designs, some big some small.. so you can take a look at the designs first.

mm waterproofing and tiling was done at the same time for my house.

Blinds are cheaper than curtains ba. Esp if you want day and night for the MBR. My blinds are only $100 per panel.. mm Wahaha my mom will also hide the pots of paint! She'll never leave them lying around the house. LOL and yes she will paint the ceiling too. She tries to repair the washing machine... which explains why she has to hug the machine while it washes... but for the fridge, she will psycho and nag my dad to take a look at it. which also reminds me that I want to get a new one. I suspect this old one that we have is using up too much electricity...My friend just told me that the BKC place you guys mentioned sold something of hers $60 cheaper than other places. whahahaha Shall check it out next week.

haha I think making curtains in the MBR will give it a nice romantic touch. Anyway your curtains will be far far away from your bed and stuff so .... maybe you can wash it every 6 months instead? If you can close an eye to it I think an annual wash isn't too tough. haha The other option is bringing it to the laundry once in a long while. I think roman blinds trap more dust than normal curtains with their horizontal folds.. .... this painting by herself thing is SOOOoOoOoOooOoOOooo familiar. I remember how I threatened my mom that we weren't going to help her paint, but she still went ahead with painting the ENTIRE house. mad. Our moms... are really scarily alike.

You guys have no idea how lucky you are... haha When I was sourcing, I only had one miserable house (from Uncle Soon) to view and most of the carpentry weren't even up yet!!! :P
