  1. If you want to save money, don't go for ID, their charges would definitely more expensive. We stumbled SkyCreation ID before and decided not to engage them because the price is too high. If I were you, I would make sure the house is functional first then .. you make it nice. Those home design magazine would be useful also.
  2. How about Samsung Series 6? It has 100 Hz scan rate and of course full hd.
  3. Welcome .. your layout is very similar to our current layout. Currently, we are doing the reno. I think you should do the necessary: - Toilet - Flooring - Doors - Electrical works - Aircon Optional ones that you can delay: - Kitchen cabinet - Extra partition - Any other built-in furniture
  4. Erm ... ok I also cost conscious, hence i bought 40" full-HD @ the same price. Although it's smaller but it's full-hd. Different choice bah
  5. From what I know, that 50" plasma would be only HD-Ready not Full HD. For future, it's always better to get the Full-HD TV. The images would be much sharper. As a fellow gamer, I would advise your hb that.
  6. Oh .. cool. Most probably, we'll go lightings.com.sg and ask them to prepare and deliver for us. Although lightings can wait, I'd rather settle everything first. For IKEA, actually i would be buying the inner drawers and would ask the carpenter to install them for my kitchen cabinets. I would only buy credenza and study table from IKEA. My reno is not a lot. My tiling jobs are only restricted to toilets and other small area, that's why it's faster. Tonight, I'll type in the sanitary ware accessories that we bought. Ah, good for you that the OpenNet is so fast. For my area it should be around June-Aug period. We already have an L box but we can not wait for them. So would ask them to open up the L box and run down the cable in future and ask my contractor to seal it up again. We are targeting to move in by mid-april
  7. Just finished site visit. The progress is good. - They are doing the 3rd layer of water proofing now. - Toilet wall tiles are up despite the hiccup and some parts are not done because they didn't have enough tiles (due to hiccup). - Carpenter has come and measure everything. He took back our Song Cho Dish Drainer for measurement. - The walls from the previous door of the bedroom has been sealed up. - The new door frame is also up. - Aircons have been dismantled (by Gaincity). 3 more weeks. We forgot to take photos ... too tired already.
  8. I agree with clementi_pr, don't pay them. As simple as that. Unless, they redo the cabinet or pay you cash for compensation.
  9. No idea, only see pictures. Definitely, not plywood type. Once, we're going to get, definitely will ask more question. otherwise, how to verify ?
  10. We are getting that one too. I think we will go buy from neighbourhood shop, 1 set with chairs ard $800 then buy glass top separately.
  11. Ok, interesting. I think the power for the each unit, you can do get from total and divide by all. Because the indoor unit for each BTU is different. So, you can not say that each system would only have 9000 BTU. So for all the bedroom units we have 9000 BTU unit and for living room we have 24000 BTU unit. So, total would be 42000 BTU For us, we get system 4 because we have 2 adjoining rooms so we assume only either 1 would be on.
  12. No problem. Maybe it's best I take the photos of them also. We're going to lightings.com.sg this weekend and IKEA, want to go?
  13. I wonder why don't you buy a System 4 Inverter? It's cheaper right?
  14. Wow 8 contractors ... we only met 3 contractors and decided already :D who is your FSM ?
  15. I like your kitchen. I think it's very nice, a pity that you need to hack it away ...
  16. Hi Misty, Have you found your wind chimes yet?
  17. Hmm ... he didn't mention that to me or maybe I forgot ? hmm ... what's the reason why have to keep the gate open?
  18. Cool ... last weekend we busy buying sanitary ware, this weekend we would be buying lights and IKEA drawers. Have you bought all the stuff already?
  19. yo ... how is your reno progress? all the tiling jobs done?
  20. This is my personal opinion. I would avoid doing renovation during the 7th month. You could try to negotiate with the seller to allow your start the renovation earlier (with your own RISK). Or, delay the whole renovation process. For qing ming, I don't think there is anything taboo about qing ming. It is supposed to be a "positive" festival. And the qing ming is only 1 day anyway.
  21. We just did a round of shopping. Although we have surveyed the shops in jalan besar for at least 5x and even short-listed the items to buy last week. Yet, buying sanitary ware is not very simple at all. We are totally conked from walking around. We always went to Jalan Besar, so I suggested to the missus to check out the shops at Balestier area before we proceed to Jalan Besar. At least, I want to know whether the items in Jalan Besar are "cheapest". We took taxi to Balestier. But, we didn't see many sanitary/toilet accessories shops. Hence, we asked the taxi to drive us back to Jalan Besar. Poh Joo Our first stop was at Poh Joo. Initially, we only wanted to buy some item like WC. We end up spent quite some time there and bought all the sanitary stuff for common and master toilet except for the rain shower and basin tap. GR Link Marketing Then we walk all the way to the other Jalan Besar side to this shop. In this shop we managed to get brass-rain shower for $280. There's another one that looks more stylo but it costs $350. I think the extra $70 is not worth to get that one. We also get a nice basin tap and sink tap. Initially, I wanted to buy the professional kind of sink tap (the one with lots of ring). But it's way too expensive. So, we decided to buy a flexible kind of sink tap. I will post pictures tomorrow. Eng Soon Huat We went here to find our kitchen sink (which is actually our main aim). We are looking for a nice 1 bowl sink for undermount. The sink should be reasonably wide and deep. And it's really hard to find unless you spend more than 300-500 hundred. The cheapest we could find was $270 at poh joo. In this place, we managed to find a nice one. It's Rubine JUX 6104 (though I can not find it in the rubine.com.sg website). The sink is very similar to this one. And it's only $105 Now, the stove .... Initially, we purchased the Fujioh Hob/Hood combination. We bought this hob Fujioh FG773SVGL with 1 Inner Flame + 2 Burners. However, when we were trying to catch a cab, the seller told us that they have no stock for this !! So, our next move is to try to go to other shops and try to find the replacement, because we have a tight schedule for this. But all this to no avail. It seems, the Fujioh SG Agent cockup. Some ppl said, the earliest available date is early april which is waaay to long. Early april is supposed to be my HO date. How to HO date when my stove is not ready (which naturally push the schedule for solid surface, gas piping, etc.) Worse thing, it seems they also do not have any stock for any 3 burner stove at all. We bit the bullet and bought the 2 burner stove with inner flame (792GL). Hopefully all turn well. Actually, after this we went to Ikea to get some sample of deep drawer (RATIONELL) but it has to be next time ....
  22. I am currently engaging Lina for my house contractor. I can not vouch for the result. But, the service is definitely top-notch and very responsive. I also did receive emails from her from 3 am. I am waiting for a good result from her (and team) for my reno.

    Laminates

Not sure about laminate. But solid surface definitely does NOT have any joint. Even an L-shape solid surface would not have any joint.
  24. True ... in life, we never know. We can only hope for the best. See how the end result bah
