  1. Sony S Series 40" $1799.
  2. My wife have been using Ariston and she seems to like it. I like the look though...
  3. Not bad...saw at HN selling $1999 but I think got free gifts. I miss the $100 voucher so die die also don't want to pay $1799 for it...haha...so got the Sony.
  4. That guy liao cho loh....
  5. Haha...win liao loh...you never check out panasonic plasma? with lots of voucher leh....
  6. Yeah...better to have a friend than an enemy...this is a small matter in my opinion...I will just let it go.
  7. Haha...I thought you wanted a small LCD TV for your room, how come ended up only looking at a 42"?
  8. Yeah...this time round must take care liao...the last one didn't take care but still lasted us for 10years before we gave it away to the new owner. Just hope I don't get too lazy. Pics...so I must start a T-blog or something right? Ok...will try to get it started...took some pix liao but have no uploaded them. My hood, hob, oven are from Mayer warehouse sales...heehee...just delivered on Sat....now waiting for cabinet measurement.
  9. Wow...sorry to hear your situation, was there anything signed? If yes, can you go to the company and talk to the boss directly?
  10. Haha...another hoot a 42" LCD TV, think the sales people all very happy...so how much you got yours? My new flat at Admiralty Dr in Sembawang Town, one of those leftover units...now bz with all the reno. Shack!
  11. I was just thinking...what is the main reason to change the pipes? If it is the exterior look, than maybe make sense, but it is because you are afraid the inside will have some particles growing, rust, or other reason than might happen on the inside, than it makes no sense. Coz the source will be from the same pipe (mostly PVC) that is supplied to all the household. Make sense?
  12. Yeah...really like the sofa...or rather...my wife really likes it a lot...so satisfied her loh...got a darker color so can 'tahan' my kids dirtying it. They say usually 4 weeks can deliver liao...so I am still waiting...meanwhile, lots of other things to consider...and reno finally got started...
  13. Ya loh...buy is buy liao...6 months down the road I'm sure the price will be lower. Haha...but we would have used it for 6months liao... Wonder if applefreak will be reporting some good news from the final hour hunting trip. Was thinking of buying in the last day also...but think think think...the crowd sure scary one....so forget it...grab first.
  14. Toshiba pq lacking? Phew...It was never on my radar screen but manage to take a peek during IT show, but when the hourly special $1599 was really tempted but decided since I have hardly stare at a Toshiba screen before I should not take the risk. Sony at least I have a Bravia at home and love the color, so I am buying something I know So yours is delivery also? The delivery schedule also like quite pack men, they really good business...hahaha....
  15. It will not be as good as hacking and laying new tiles lah, so if done properly, it will ensure a few things, proper water proofing for years to come, tiles to your likely (hundreds or thousands to choose from), hmm...can only think of this 2 things. Spraying is easy but less choices, and depends on the people doing it, may or may not do a good enough job. I sprayed my toilet bowl and sink about 9-10 years back when this spraying thing is still very new here. The guys did suck a lousy job that in the end I can't remember if I paid him. Lived with those for 7-8 years before I change everything. I would say laying tiles is the more traditional way and more accepted way, and spraying is like a 'new age' thing and less accepted. Like a paradigm shift. In the end, it's what your want and how much you are willing to pay.
  16. My previous house was about the same age. My new house now is 7 years old (even though we are only just moving in) and we do not intent to change the pipe.
  17. Nope...min now is 32", in fact, fewer people are going for 32" and jump straight to 37", which is why 32" price have tumble down. If you look at the newspaper today, there is ZERO advertisement for lesser than 32" LCD TV, with 32" at 600-900, it's not worth advertising anything smaller. Only 1 advert on 26", FREE with starhub External HDD are going very fast, heard some sizes sold out already. Best buy seems to be from WD corner. 2.5" 160GB $110, 3.5" 500GB $150. Actually I believe LG will have good deal lah, but coz of bad experience skipped them, things are like that, once you have 1 bad experience, it sticks with you and will take a long time for it to go away. They may have improved a lot now, but it will still take a while for my mental block to 'unblock'. I'm a sucker for Sony so since about the same price, ended up with the Sony S series. Went there wanting to get a full HD but my CO says don't waste money, and thinking since I don't think I will be getting Bluray anytime soon, doesn't need too. The Sony S series can put the picture to near 1080p quality if playing via bluray player but off coz cannot fight with true 1080p. Got it on interest free installment so can buy and forget Was really tempted on the Toshiba during the hourly sales but while their earlier 37" offer was grabbed, once the price is announced ($1599), people start to disperse. Strange...haha...so also don't dare to commit but come home and think about it, like not bad. In the end was choosing between Samsung and Sony since both same price, Samsung got the look while Sony got the 'name'. In the end, like I say loh, sucker for Sony so choose Sony. Got near 1080p support, and I like the Bravia series colors (got a 32"), sound system seems better. BTW didn't realise Sony is the only brand with 2 retailers! Best Denki at 2nd floor and Courts at 4th floor. Maybe can try to bargain at both side. You will choose the M series over the Bravia W series? Was really tempted by the W series actually and almost committed but spoke to my CO and decided to give up Full HD. The W series at $2649 (with $200 vouchers) are the only made in Japan sets. Called a few outside retailers like Everjoint, Goh Ah Bee and the one at Transit Road, all quoting $3100 to $3500 CASH deal only, and those are supposedly made in Malaysia.
  18. The additional is not call fire insurance. It's more of a home content insurance, it covers not only fire, but should also cover theft and maybe natural disaster. There are quite a lot of companies that offer this. When you purchase the fire insurance at HDB (with AHA), they have brochures you can take for more info. Here are some of the companies who offer these insurance. AHA AHA 2 NTUC AXA AXA 2 HSBC DBS (underwritten by MSIG) Stanchart (underwritten by Prudential) GE GE 2 MSIC MSIG 2 These are mostly for HDB as some have different plan for private housing. I believe purchasing this is just for a peace of mind and will not go for something too expensive. Something basic is sufficient for me. Also note that you need some sort of proof, especially for expensive items and it will be good if you keep a copy of the receipts (at somewhere else safe I would think, imagine if you keep at home and there is fire, everything will go up in flames).
  19. Than you will get key on Apr 14 liao right? Why need to wait till Jun?

  21. It's the same at Causeway point. The one at Compass Point is much better and I heard the Great World one gives good service.
  22. No...not going there liao...bought all my ceiling fans from Palace of Lights at Balestier. Recommended by a friend who always buy from them. Very happy with the deal. They just came today to fix up my 7 ceiling fans (with light kit) and 2 heaters and rest of the lights.
  23. Really? I was also considering this but thought maybe now they may have improved it. Laying the cable around the house is the ideal case but finding someone who know how to do it properly is difficult, or overpriced. I found a reliable networking guy but he will not be able to conceal the cable (they are strictly networking guy only) as they do not know how. I ask some electrician, but they do not know how to terminate the faceplate. So unless I get them to work together, but they will be paying 2 parties. *sigh*
  24. Hmm....can consider...my mum hates her current flooring, original from HDB 23 years back! Haha....ugly, dirty and slippery.
