  1. Yeah...I think it will be quite a showpiece. I actually think the color is not bad too. But no extra budget to change anything now. Looking forward to see your finished product if you get from them.
  2. Just an update on my sofa search. Spent another weekend hunting for sofa. On sat evening, was at IFC and really liked 2 L-shape sofa which are full leather. Decided to go for full leather since a lot of area will be 'exposed'. Saw one at Castilla Designs going at $1499 and one at home2be going at $1699. Can't decide so went home. Sun went around the area again and started to drive into various showroom/warehouse. Went to Castilla (with no sales person in sight), Furniture warehouse, Univonna, Star furniture (featuring Mondi) and again back to IFC. Oh, was at the Modern Living 2008 too at Expo. Univonna has some nice half-leather design but the 2 we look at, even at half leather is $1288 and $2088. (yes $2088 for HALF leather, but look very good). The rest of the place (apart from IFC) didn't see anything we like. For the $1288 is using wooden leg and full leather will cost $1800+. For the $2088 is stainless steel leg and is made for a TV show featuring Mark Lee or something. Didn't even want to check the full leather price. After some consideration, decided to go back to IFC. Have a look at both the Castilla design and the home2be design again and my wife really like the home2be one, which we saw the same set at Modern Living 2008 (1 small hall only, lousy exhibition) by home2be selling there at $1999, which is their normal promo price. So $1699 looks like a good deal. After lots of discussion (with my wife of coz), we decided to go for the home2be one (by now the price has greatly burst our budget). We like the design, it comes with stainless steel legs, more colors to choose from, and customize the density. When he was feeling up the sales order, notice got a $50 transport charge, he says cannot waive so we thought it's ok. Than came the shocker (at least a shock to us), GST is NOT included in the price. So it means a further dent in my pocket and we thought might as well go for the Castilla one since the design is acceptable to us too and will cost much less. Almost want to walk out (coz budget already burst, don't want to burst further) and the sales person quickly call the boss to ask for approval for waiver of GST and we got it. He claim is the last special promo set so ask the boss to waive it for us. So we save some money on that and got the sofa that we like. Says take 4-6weeks for delivery, since we are not in a hurray, agreed to it. Will feedback on the delivery.
  3. Have you check out Sim Lim Sqaure yet? They have lots of different type of CCTV there.
  4. I was reading from the thread that because it outputs 5l/min of hot water, it will be able to support 1 shower point at a time, if 2 people showering at 2 different shower point at the same time, the one further away from the heater will not get hot enough water. But those post are like 2 years back, so not sure if it still applies. BTW notice that Citygas has took down the free gas heater ad on their website, it was still there couple of weeks back. Hi LadyLuck, have your family ever use more than 2 showering point at the same time? Is it hot enough for both side? Thanks.
  5. There are quite a few discussion on this thread (but some may be slightly older). Check these out: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=4494 http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=643 http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2411 Cheers! BTW anyone knows the current free citygas heater given does it still have the problem of only 1 shower point will be hot at any one time?
  6. Palladine I believe is china brand vs Akira which is local brand. The Palladine series are generally quite low in quality, at least it is when I look at them previously. LCD prices have come down so much and it will be better if you are spending on a LCD to go for something more establish. My humble opinion.
  7. My old house is laminated whole house. It is actually very easy to maintain except water puddle is a no no. Any puddle of water please clean it immediately. Other than that the only floor solution dedicated to laminated flooring is Sofix as mentioned, have not come across any other solution. Laminate don't get chip or crack or scratch easily because it is treated wood. It usually last a long time. When mopping, try to ensure the mop is not too wet. Or use the 3M mini sponge mob, very easy to use and lightweight. Come to think of it, really miss my laminated flooring. Find it a waste to change my new house to laminate as all the floorings have been redone by HDB before handing over the keys to us. Sigh...
  8. I'm not an expert, just hearsay only. Heard the insulation got class 0, class 1, etc...class 0 is the best. At gain city must pay to 'upgrade'. The piping I not so sure liao, some say made in china one not good. Made in Thailand one better, this I cannot verify.
  9. I am not an expert in wine fridge. Just share with you my experience. I bought mine from Everjoint (AMK) about 3 years back (15 bottles). I find the price very reasonable. But I don't think can compare to those high end model that comes with lots of features. But I am not a die heart wine drinker. Just an occasional drinker.
  10. Thank you thank you...I thought when I missed last year's warehouse sales (coz have not took keys) no chance liao...who knows now they got another one just after I took my keys. Timing is perfect. Hee....
  11. OK guys, report time. Just came back from the warehouse sales. Reach there at about 10.30am already quite a lot of people. They have lots of display sets on sales for Hood, Hob and Oven. Some of the Oven are still super new. Saw some fridge (non-color, silver only) on display but is under the FOR EXPORT ONLY section. Guess means no warranty? Didn't have time to ask as I was rushing. Zoom in on the no.1 thing I am looking for. DK302 Vitroceramic 2 burner. Only got one, UP $499 selling at $330. A very nice sale person Steve came and approached me, was concern the stainless steel area is a bit tarnish, assured me that it can be clean and got someone to clean it up for me. 1 down. Next is a 60cm chimney hood. Saw at showroom Delizia on offer at $399, but Ariston UP is $719 not sure got offer or not. Saw 1 unit current model HES 60 F.1 IX and a few older model (think is without the 'S'). The filter area slightly dented, and Steve offered to swap both pieces for me with other display units. Very happen, damage $359 (the older model selling $339). Finally, the oven. Went there looking for FB 51.2 IX, showroom offer price is $619 (UP $689), warehouse brand new price is $589. Display unit (only 2 and one SOLD) at $489 only. Wanted to buy liao but Steve than tell me he will recommend only 2 models (unless I am a heavy user), one is the one I am looking at FB 51.2 IX, the other is FZ 61.1 IX (note the newest model is FZ 62 C.1 IX). UP $819 now display model at $619. Explained to me the difference and let me make the final decision. Told me don't even need to consider FZ 62 C.1 IX (UP $999 display unit I think is $689, some $719). After carefully considering the difference, and the money I already saved, I decided to go for the FZ 61.1 IX which looks nicer too. He helped me to pick out the best one (among the 3 units which are almost brand new). Delivery charge at $25 for up to 3 items. Total damage: $1333. Things to note: 1. Display unit comes with 6 months warranty only (compare to 1 year for normal unit). 2. Delivery date is up to 30 days else $40/month for beyond 30 days. 3. Not all display unit are equal, so choose carefully. 4. Please do not hold me for my word, check it out yourself and decide, I don't mind display unit (since they are never turned on) but it may not be your cup of tea. 5. Lastly, I am a happy man.
  12. I'm definitely going and will update if got fridge offer.
  13. Hmm...artspeople, don't think yours got anything to do with power consumption leh.
  14. I will definitely be there! Heehee...was waiting for the sales to come, almost went to Mayer to buy liao but decided to hold my horses, its a good thing I did! Hopefully what I want is available since I am looking at stuff most don't like...hahaha....
  15. Thanks...is the Admiralty their showroom also? Very near my new place, so can go check out anytime. Notice some of sofas I think I saw it at Silver River today. Hope they got more range than Silver River. Will go see see look look, thanks again.
  16. Haha...why flame you? I am still deciding about half and full leather. There is a good chance my the either back will be exposed, so depending on how I place my sofa. Where did you get yours? Any place to recommend? I've been going to quite a few places and still cannot decide.
  17. You mean half leather also as warm? I was toying with the idea of half leather or full leather, no PU/PVC for me definitely. For half leather, all the area with 'human touch' are leather, so should not feel warm. The only problem I see is that the non genuine leather part may wear off faster or tear easier than leather. The color fading (if any, do they fad at all?) may also be inconsistent between the 2 types. So if possible, will go for full leather unless really no choice ($$) than may get half leather.
  18. Congrates! Welcome another new neighbour. We should share what areas we checked and what defects (if any) we got so we can all keep a look out for those areas. Also, maybe share some reno tips since ours are same design. Heehee... Anyone from the 356-360 blocks EA gotten window grille quotes? Can share? I will be asking for some quotes this week. Getting them to come and measure.
  19. In Sembawang, coz I also book my flat in Aug and just got my key recently, so thought maybe the same area....hahaha...
  20. I got a quote for Toshiba inverter sys-4 at $3200. Never ask about sys-3 but seems reasonable to me, where did you get the quote from? What type of piping and insulation they using? I understand got many types, some cheap some more expensive.
  21. Just wondering, is your new place at Sembawang?
  22. No choice lah, got to live with it else got to spend money to redo. I didn't check the floor that throughly also as by the time I got there after work, the lights are quite dim already, maybe need to put in temp light bulb. But really excited to have finally gotten the keys. There were some boo boo but now everything is ok liao. Defeats yes, but was surprise by their efficiency. According to my friend who has been staying in Sembawang for a few years, he said the town council people are very nice, so that is at least a plus point.
  23. I just got my keys at Blk 359A. Haven't started reno but will be soon. Check my blog at http://www.homeoftong.com/2008/02/14/my-new-house/ for some shocking photos! Terrible pipe leaking, but the town council fixed the problem in record time, the same morning I went to log the faults they sent the plumber down. I didn't notice till you say about the common toilet sink and bowl color, they are like beige color, not blue definitely! Here are the photos I took.
  24. If you intend to get bangla, just make sure they dispose properly else if the problem trace back to you than deep **** liao. Since you are getting contractor to do the kitchen cabinet again, better to get them to hack down the old one also coz they will know the proper way to dispose, of coz they will be a charge.
  25. Yah, I believe EM and EA is considered the same type, and EC have to use bank loan. So no more concessionary loan liao.
