Hi How do you choose between 1-mth sibor and 3-mth sibor for mortgage loan? What is the criteria for the decision-making? When interest rate goes up, does it mean 1-mth sibor move up faster than 3-mth sibor? The rate now is as follow: Rate Type Rate 1 MONTH 0.31501 % 2 MONTHS 0.32641 % 3 MONTHS 0.39821 % 6 MONTHS 0.45429 % 9 MONTHS 0.5375 % 12 MONTHS 0.59667 % http://www.loanguru.com.sg/sibor

Hello guys, After patiently waiting for 3 years, I've just finally collected keys to my 4 room premium BTO!! Decided to start this t-blog to share my scandinavian renovation works with everyone as I'll like to contribute back to homeowners since I've been a quiet reader for the past one year. T-blog has been really 'educational' to me in terms of tips and tricks as well as contacts thus I'd hope what I will be sharing would contribute to those who are renovating their home or getting keys to their new place! Anyway, here's my floor plan for reference: My scandinavian design which I will be having are inspired during my stay in Denmark. During my stay there, I was influenced by the danish way of life, how their designs were clean and timeless as well as functional. I love everything scandinavian and my place would only be made of four colour scheme - which is white, brown, grey and black.

Hi Guys, Does anyone here have any knowledge of chengal wood and its pricing range? I went to a couple of IDs and was quoted with a wide price range for a planter size of chengal wood. The cheapest one quoted me $450 for my planter size. The most expensive one from another ID was quoted at 1.5K for the same size. Some others quoted me 600+ and some 800+. Is there any differences in the chengal wood given? I asked the ID who quoted me 1.5K and she said that theirs are the better ones.. they wait for the free to mature 60 yrs then they can chop it off for the wood. She kept emplasizing that $450 for that size is definitely not achievable. I also asked the rest of the IDs why some quote me 1.5K and they gave me the shocked expression and told me that the price is over quoted. The knowledge they told me is that....there is a minimum size that they will quote for the chengal wood. So for a planter size, they can only quote me the minimum size to be sold. 1 even told me the minimum size is abt $400. Then another amount arnd $300 is meant for the support below the chengal wood. This is sooooo confusing and i don't know which is which and who is saying the real thing..... Need the advise of you who knows about this chengal wood. Thanks in advance

Hi everyone, im in love with the vinyl woody texture and the rubbery feel when i step on it, but however after reading a lot of info here shared by fellow renotalk members, i feel there is a need to look more into which brand is good. I asked evorich during the recent expo and they quoted me $6.20 which is still quite ex to me.Supreme the cheapest $5.50 but not much choice i visited inovar as well and they quoted me $7plus if im not mistaken. However theirs is not the click and lock system, which they claim to be not good cos can c gaps. May i know how true is this, anybody used Evorich or Innovar Vinyl care to share? CLick and lock or the normal ones better. Also i asked my contractor and he said he using ACE for my vinyl floor from US and says that its much cheaper. Anybody had used this brand before. I cant find much about this brand for the reviews. THank you in advance!

It is a common traits among IDs and contractors. To a certain extend, other then sms/What App, we also need to be their PA/secretary and constantly ask and remind them now and then. Trust me, it will go a long way in the reno, reducing the chances of rework or wrong work.

Hi friend, before a Reno, many people will be like you, " Headache ".... trust me, the more headache you have , the real headache will approach. Stay cool, stay firm and do lot's of research. Stay on the computer whenever you have time, scroll through, search for things you want, email, call or even visit the suppliers etc. One word, cannot be lazy afterall it's you house. Most people will not have "experience" on renovation, afterall we don't renovate our house once a year, so research counts all. I have to admit, before my Reno, I also very headache, don't know where to start.... but times come, you will automatically know what is the next step....... Search whatever items before hand, don't wait until last minute, at least you have time for option. The rest I had already written in my Blog, Good luck and remember to post.

My ID informed me that he's starting the renovation work on my new flat today. From your experiences, how often do you check on the progress of the renovation?

Hi, we have attended several appointments with IDs and for one of them, we were recommended an ID by a friend. This ID's works consists of mostly modern homes whereas we were looking for something more Scandi. This ID's prices were mid-range, however, in Reno-talk, there were mostly bad comments regarding the workmanship of the company. However, the those mentioned on the forum were not this ID's projects but rather projects of colleagues. However, I took it as a warning sign. Alas, due to our budget constraints, we decided to go with a low-range ID. (Those contractor type prices) This ID then proceeded to question why we didn't sign with them and we cited price as the major factor. We then received a quotation, lesser than contractor's pricing. And was informed that they would really like to work with us so Scandi can be included in their portfolio. They were pretty insistent that they would be the best choice for us. As this ID is a friend of our friend, we are unsure whether this is due to enthusiasm as a favor for a friend. Or is this too good to be true? Please advise.

Need help and advice on floor tiles of more than 30 years bulging suddenly. Area covered around 1 sqm in dining room. Old apartment and no renovations going on in the block recently. So very puzzled why it happened.

Hi everyone, Does anyone knows how much is the labour charge for laying homogeneous tiles? I am thinking of shipping some tiles in myself, I am able to get it for about S$3-$4 for each 600x600 piece. Based on this a 1000sqf takes about 258 pieces of 600x600 tiles which works out to S$1290. Is this expensive or cheap by Singapore standards?

Hi, I'm looking for a carpenter to put together a 8 ft tv bench (standalone) with some drawers. Anyone has a good experience with a particular contractor? I'm concerned about the quality of the drawers and the veneer finishing. If you've any pictures (esp zoomed in to the finishing) that would be great. You can PM me their contact and any photos. Thanks in advance!
