  1. One note on tile selection. I feel that if you want to go for darker colored tiles or flooring, you have to consider the amount of light you got in the kitchen. I'm partial to kitchen must be bright with lots of natural light. If not, the whole place will look very dark and uninviting.
  2. Hi Changbp, Can pm me where you buy the Vento Fino and price? Does it comes with installation? Thanks in advance.
  3. I did not install the cctv and it's just a contingency. I hope I don't need it. In theory, you will need a power source near to the cctv outside the house.
  4. I have the 40 liter storage heater but not the digital display. It has a hot/ cold display outside though - like what you find in your car dashboard display. The needle moves from left (cold) to right (hot). It can keep the hot water for quite a while (maybe 8 hours) and quite fast to heat up.
  5. Twinklecloud, For electrical point, I have one installed above the door as suggested by someone from renotalk (I think it's kstoh). This in case you want to have a cctv installed.
  6. Thanks for the clarification. Congrats again and I like this better than a fat boxed up.
  7. I think this is the first time I see in renotalk a stainless steel countertop. Nice!I have the same gas pipe and it was boxed up (bulky) and I'm impressed how it looks here.
  8. No you are not. Once the mismatch is there, your eyes will be looking for it subconsciously when you are looking in that direction.
  9. Can the toilet swing door open from the front, i.e. Swing open towards you instead of swinging in? This will make the toilet more spacious without the door in the way when you are inside and not closing the door.
  10. I went for Casearstone Snow White in the end. Entry level and a classic. Have black counter top for a long time. Now white counter top match with light grey cabinets to give it a different look.
  11. I recalled that one of the silestone black has white specks on it. Not visible from the small sample as its not spread evenly. You may want to double check with silestone just so you get what you wanted. No nasty surprise.
  12. Do you have a switch/ plug for the oven or is it hot wired so that the "on-off" is on the oven itself?
  13. There is no right or wrong style in home renovation. It's about meeting the budget & needs. Most importantly, you go back home & feel relaxed & at peace with yourself. Your own sanctuary.
  14. 15. I have been waiting, alongside many others as well. Can see you really put in a lot of thought & effort in the design and get the house to fit your requirements.
  16. Thanks! It I know exactly what you mean by noticing it as I know & irritated by it everyday. I heard from my ID such finishing is very expensive but it sure looks good.
  17. Your kitchen cabinet look fabulous. May I know what material it is & did you encounter any wavy line when you look from an angle?
  18. I read her blog but not all the 88 pages.I am using the grid and I do find it troublesome initially. But got used to it now. It actually give peace of mind that you can just dump all the pots and plates or whatever into the sink without worrying about scratches. And since you clean the sink each time after use, it is not too much trouble to just remove the grid before doing so. In summary, I think you have got no worry there.
  19. I was trying to find a "like" button for your fireplace and how the toilet is coming together. But can't find so have to do a post to congratulate you on how well you have done. Kudos!
  20. I got the same Kraus sink as well and have been using it for a few months now. My experience is that you have to be diligent in cleaning up the sink each night after use. If you leave food crumps, overnight, there will be rust spots. Though relatively easy to remove, it's a bummer to see those spots on an otherwise shiny solid looking sink. (I managed to get free shipping so cost less than $400 & no GST in the end)The colander - get the size 1 or 2. Any bigger and it will not fit in the sink.
  21. I think you are referring to the drain pipe - the concern that the drawer can't close properly as its blocked by the drain pipe. Most drawers will be cut a U shape to go around this problem. Not an issue with most carpenters. You can also measure how much allowance you need to clear the drain pipe. The drawer can be made shorter but bot advisable as this reduce storage space.
  22. The normal response from ID or contractor would be if its going to box up or covered by feature wall etc, the trunking or wall finish is not a concern. But next time when we home owner want to change design, we will have to spend extra to have this imperfection corrected.
  23. Just let the ID & carpenter know you want 50 cm internal depth for your drawers and they should get the longer runners.
  24. Not sure if this is useful for you. When discussing the kitchen carpentry, you may want to specify the internal drawer depth to be 50cm. Ikea internal drawer depth is 50cm and they have a wide range of internal accessories (cutlery tray etc) that fit nicely inside. Blum standard runner is 50cm but also comes in 55cm. So get the 55cm ones.
