  1. TB is indeed a good avenue for many things. Personally did 5m3 worth of import already, some are shared. Especially for lighting in Tmall, guess nowhere else can matched the price. My ID specifically told me, the lighting I’ve got, he saw it selling at SGD400 a pop. I settled at 3 for approx.. SGD130. As for ceramic basins, I think cracking issues mainly due to transport. I got 1 from Tmall and still going strong. The shower sets, sinks, bidets etc and still good, with no rust issue, let alone quality issues. Overall am happy with all. Had 2 study tables 1.5m long and 6 drawer unit (industrial look), solid wood with metal frames for SGD 1.5k. With the same price, barely can get a study table in Sing.
  2. I did consider the glass partition look when I do my place but after consider the loss of 1 room also the requirement to maintain the room in tip top condition, I decided against the idea, after all it is a see thru, any mess created, will be an eyesore. Open concept kitchen is much sought after nowadays. DO consider if you are air conditioning the living area. If yes, you may need a bigger blower to cool the area, inclusive kitchen. For myself, coming from a second home owner, I have too much barang and need the walls to do cabinets.
  3. A couple of factors come in play here, owner preference to combine WC and shower couple with the un-hackable pillar with the pipes. The ultimate layout now looks tricky I must say. To shower, one must pass the WC and wash sink…..not easy. The pillar with pipes and the depth of the basin top will only narrow down the walkable area further. As for rounded corner, changed if you are installing glass since it irks the **** out of you. But if a concrete wall is erected, can consider to keep it. Just bear in mind, whatever changes that ID/contractor says will absorb, the cost is recovered from elsewhere. My guess there is no other way to run the water pipes, or at least HDB don’t allow, unlike condos. However the way around this is to lose maybe 3 inches of wall depth and bury the piping in these 3 inches. Cost wise is another consideration. Looking at the shower seat and drainage hole, user likely be sitting down with left feet nearing the drainage hole most of the time. If using conventional shower set, the standing position may not be getting much of the rain shower, block off by the seat.
  4. IMO, the shower seat looks pretty well done. Rounded corner mainly for safety hence tiler went with rounded. Matter of fact, much more efforts are needed to make a round corner than right angle. Though this more of a personal preference but in the long run, these smaller detials will grow on you and no longer an eyesore.
  5. So far all working fine, no rust whatsoever except the usual stains. I had check Tmall Grohe again, seems like the color shower set is no longer for sale. What a pity. Anyway, your link is the same shop I bought from.
  6. If you do cornice, you will find every wire trunking running in the middle of the ceiling to the lighting. If you do false ceiling, you can hide these trunkings and also do down lights/cove lights. Cornice subject to theme and kinda old school nowadays. Most will want modern contemp/scandi clean sleek look. Personal preferences and depth of pocket comes in play.
  7. I know this idea very well. Matter of fact I have a full size sample to show. Let me know if you are keen to view.
  8. I bought my kitchen tap, washroom faucets and rain shower head, bidets all from this shop. Many items are not listed on the page, you may have to chat with them on Ali Wang Wang for more info. Matter of fact I called the lady in charge and exchange emails for more info on pics and price. https://shop66081815.world.taobao.com/?spm=a312a.7728556.2015080705.3.Sv20k8 I had just check, the Grohe shower set is now RMB1199. There are various designs, those with thermostat will cost much more.
  9. Problem 1 - That is a challenge, your ID should come up with some ideas. It also depends on how your living room sofa layout as well. The facing of TV console (or wall mounted), sofa set design, 2/3 seater, L shape all plays a part. Problem 2 - Answer is no. WC location is fixed, will cost more to shift. Shape of washroom is approx. 1.7m x 1.695m, making it a square. So how to divide a square, catering for a WC as well as a sink? Better off using only a shower curtain or simply empty. Also, do note where are the big veritical drainage pipes, they will act as a hinderance and crucial in planning if shower glass are insisted. Problem 3 - It is inded kinda weird. That position is the best place for a fridge but placing it there will make the window redundant. See what the ID can propose. Your kitchen is small, minus off the entrance and window, you have only approx. 2 meters of table top. Taking away the sink and hob, you are left with even lesser table space for appliances and preparation of food. Doing top and bottom cabinet will ensure maximising the storage. Can consider hacking away the wall/dppr/window to the service yard (if allow). This will free up more space and have an more even out look, instead of cluster feel.
  10. I did a study before I commit on the LG Bot. For mopping, that time iRobot seems to be the most convincing. After studying further and taking into consideration the price, I gave up the idea. iRobot uses quite little water and likely to get dirty very quickly. Hence the constant need to change. Self mop will already get the pail of water to be dark and cloudy covering barely half the area of a 4 room unit. Given the cost and efforts required, I reckon self mop is a quicker and better option. As for the LG Bot, no regrets, works great, especially under the bed areas, let it run the do the mop. Fast and hassle free, money well spent in my opinion.
  11. Yes, concealed wiring is against regulations, no doubt about it. But sub rules applies = Only illegal when caught. I bet may homes has concealed wiring here and there. Likewise the requirement fire rated doors.
  12. First, aint no fan of rugs and carpet. Mainly maintanance issues. However if to choose between the 2, honestly none. Both not very pleasing to the eyes. I bet you can do better finding a nicer rug.
  13. Care to share a little more? I bet it must be one **** of a night stand.
  14. Don’t be confuse. It is actually very straight forward. Do not misinterpret the space of 1m3 as a fixed 1m x 1m x1m. It is just volume calculation for charging of shipping cost. Eg the TV console is 1.8m x 0.4m x 0.445 =0.3204m3 so means you need another 0.7m3 to meet the minimum of 1m3 else you will be still charge min 1m3. So if you add in dining table, 3 sinks, 6 chairs etc and total volume adds up to be 2.5m3 then the cost will be like 2.5 x SGD 100 = $250 + GST (assuming shipping is SGD100 per meter cube). Hopes this clears it up for you. Happy shopping.
  15. On Amazon, all items are price in USD. Similarly, all Tmall and Taobao items are priced in RMB.
  16. Couldn't resist the temptation. Went to Muji and take a look at the plastic containers. The price tag there not enticing enough for me to take out my wallet so back to Taobao again. Bought 2 sets of these and at less than RMB60 per set. Already had 2 set and fully utilised, sure are handy. Comparing with Muji, there is a difference in texture and material but nonetheless serves the same purpose at fraction of the price. Good for storage in cabinets, drawers etc.
  17. Sometimes they will make an exception but most of the time is NO. Meeting the free shipping criteria, item MUST be sold by Amazon, not other seller. Next is meeting USD125 worth of purchase. You can filter out on the left hand side by clicking on Amazon Global Eligible, Free Int Shipping and the seller.
  18. This is the one. To house the extesion plugs so will look more neat and tidy.
  19. Just back from overseas and saw the interest in the Simple Human Sink Caddy. After using it for a year, I would say it is very useful. It keep the sponges, and the brushes for scrub and bottles. It has drip holes at the bottom so excess water can be drain away. I feel the useful part is that it is mount onto the sink. This way, there is no need for a "container" at the kiitchen top to keep the sponges and brushes. Looks neat and tidy. However, make sue you clean the brushes of food remains and etc before storing them back. Like all wet conditions, slimey mucus will accumulate over time and will need a thorough cleaning. The suction is good, stays in position and holds well too. Pricey but good buy. Just to add on, anyone want some plug boxes, I had some extra to let go.
  20. The plug is of a secondary concern, you can always use an adapter to for the plug. The power rating is the primary issue. you will need a converter for it. Please check the power rating of the appliances before you buy the appliances and then also to know what rating of converter you need. Singapore 230V 50Hz United States 120/240V 60Hz Plug Adapter : About $1.50 up Converter: About $15 up, subject to power rating.
  21. There is a saying, the more space you have, the more things you will buy to fill it - which I beg to differ. I prefer more storage, at least I can sort out the items properly and dont have to climb over mountain over sea just to find that small little item I need. Appliances is one thing, then comes the item for the oven eg Le Creuset, baking and different size of containers etc. Seriously, kitchen is actually the place that has the most stuffs compare to the whole house. So why not maximise the space given and cater for the future foreseeable or unforeseen purchase. Given nowadays HDB sizes, the kitchen is only so “big” and only so much room for kitchen top and cabinets. Some want to keep it simple, just go for kitchen top cabinets and no wall hung. Yes, it look clean and minimalist but I don’t like the idea of item scattering around the kitchen and on the kitchen top. Some appliances will be on the kitchen top, as if taken PR status, simply because they will be used daily or simply to big/heavy to be store. Eg Kitchenaid mixer or the rice cooker or some fanciful coffee machine. I would prefer the storage for all my dry goods, beverages, a tower unit (usually box up the main vertical pipe) to house my mops, brooms and all teeny weeny zhap ba lang things. But each to their own. Your home, you call. A place where you are most comfortable in.
