Wah, so many with IDEAL HOUSE? Heehee... I also found more defects after submitting the last list. But the HDB Branch Office people are very nice, and will help me to resolve asap. Only 1 thing where I have been pushed around. My electrical point outside the house the wires are dangling, since outside the house I call the town council, and the story goes like this. Refer to STC, STC send someone down, say need to refer to PUB, STC refer to PUB water section, say electricity not them, so refer back to STC, STC refer to PUB again, PUB refer back to STC. STC send another one down, say will feedback to STC and shd refer to PUB. Also suggest to refer to HDB. Refer to HDB, HDB refer to STC, STC refer to Power Grid, who in turn refer to SP Services, SP say to refer back to STC, STC than say it's Power Grid's responsibility. Now still pending. And now I have no electricity in my house, how to start reno?

Hdb Flatowner Buying Private Properties
keltong replied to rummi's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
Not sure sure your question is. But if you are talking about buying a new EC, you will need to sell your current HDB flat as EC is considered 'HDB'. The good news is under the new ruling (but not sure which project will kick off), you do not have to pay resale levy for EC, this is to bring the rule in line with those HDB under DBSS (Design, Build and Sell Scheme). If you are getting a resale EC, than I believe you are allow to hold your HDB as after 5 years, EC is treated as private property (only condition is cannot sell to foreigners, which will be lifted only after 10 years). But the CPF ruling on CPF money use still applies. Can anyone else verify on this? -
Hdb Flatowner Buying Private Properties
keltong replied to rummi's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
From what I understand, you can purchase private property only after you have meet the minimum occupational period. For flat bought direct from HDB/open market with grant - 5years For flat bought from open market with no grant - 2.5years Do note that if you are servicing the loan via CPF, you can only use it (CPF) to service a 2nd residential property AFTER you have set aside the minimum sum. -
My bro-in-law just redo his walk-in wardrobe to the normal type. His complain is that everything get dusty every easily. That was his main complain. Than everything got to pack nice nice loh coz you know, everyone see walk-in wardrobe want to take a look, so if never pack nice nice not so good.

If you are into cereals, POST cereals in Sheng Shiong is super cheap! At least $1-$2 cheaper. But note that while you can find a lot of cheap stuff in Sheng Shiong, not everything is the cheapest. Then again, there is no place that can be everything cheapest one. I usually shop at the commonwealth MRT branch coz near my oppit.

Gain City just finished their warehouse sales where bought a cheap display unit washer. Not sure if you have check them out last 2 weekends. You might want to compare price with Audio House too. The so call smaller shops also gives great value sometimes, same freebies but much cheaper. But if you need installment, than they may or may not be a good choice. Another place I heard of is Mustaffa, but I have never been there to verify the price, but heard that there is good deal there.

Suspended kitchen...wow...I have to google to understand what it is Saw a nice looking suspended kitchen @ http://www.trendir.com/archives/000836.html Looks nice, it almost like having wall mount kitchen cabinet for both up and bottom. You will have to go for reputable designer/contractor as it will be very tricky for the bottom cabinet. It has to be extra strong and sturdy. A nice concept though. If you do not cook often, this may be a showpiece, a talking piece.

Any movers to recommend?
keltong replied to koras's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Err...I only move piano with them b4. Rate I think was around $100-$120. According to my sis (I shifted to her place temp) they did quite a good job. Only thing is they were very late and called to apologise and offer to give 1 free tuning (worth $50). Never move other items b4 so cannot be certain about their service. -
Don't think is expensive. Who you get the quote from, or is it part of the package from your ID?

Any movers to recommend?

You can find it in Straits Times Classified. I used Jenny's mover for my piano moving the last time round to shift temp to my sis place, now will be moving over to my new place. They did a good job last time round so most likely will try them again. Never tried their house moving so not sure if it is the same standard. Anyone else have feedback on Hua Yong? Notice they shift piano also. -
I thought thess changes may be important to some people here in case you miss out on the papers. Second-Timers Buying a New EC 4 To align the purchase of new ECs with the Design, Build and Sell Scheme (DBSS), second-timers buying a new EC unit from the developer will no longer have to pay the resale levy. The revised policy will take effect for the purchase of new EC units commencing from Punggol E4. First-Timer EC Buyers Allowed to Buy a Second Subsidized Flat 5 A first-timer who buys a new EC will be allowed to purchase a second new EC, HDB or DBSS flat, subject to prevailing eligibility conditions. However, as ECs are considered private housing, ex-EC owners will have to wait 30 months following the disposal of their ECs, before they can apply to purchase a new EC, HDB or DBSS flat. There is no debarment period if ex-EC owners choose to buy a resale flat. Under prevailing policy, first-timers who purchased new EC units from developers are permanently debarred from subsequently buying another new EC, HDB or DBSS flat. HDB will lift the permanent debarment policy with immediate effect. 6 Like all second-timers, an EC owner who had enjoyed a CPF housing grant when he purchased his EC will be required to pay a resale levy if his second flat is a new HDB flat. As new HDB flats are sold at subsidized prices, the objective of the resale levy is to reduce the subsidy enjoyed by the second-timer on his second subsidized flat. The resale levy is fixed at $55,000 for ex-EC owners, and payable when booking the new HDB flat. The levy is not payable if the EC owner opts to buy a new EC or DBSS flat, as they will be paying market prices as determined by the developer.

Which is why budget air dun fly to anywhere more than 5 hours. Heehee...but AirAsiaX just launch a flight from KL to Gold Coast...is that a start of a new trend? For the Perth flight I paid extra for the 1st row seat so got better leg room, else I think I will also suffer. Haha...

You can, only after you have set aside the minimum sum. But you cannot buy non-residential property.

I know, this is the last thing you want to happen, especially from IKEA. But their customer service usually quite ok leh, not sure why this time like that. Sigh...I did notice in the IKEA friend's website that there is another complain about their customer service. Maybe they have grown too big so can't train everyone properly? But you already escalated higher up. Hope everything will turn out well for you.

Was wondering where I bought mine, after searching my 3 years old invoice, guess what? It's Choo Chiang! Hahaha...was recommended to this place by my previous contractor. At that time, I bought Hager at these prices: Hager 1G w/rocker switch - $1.80 Hager 2G w/rocker switch - $2.90 Hager 1G w/rocker W/H switch - $7.80 Looks like now got better buys. Is it difficult to change if the points are conceal wiring? Coz I notice the switch surface are like stuck to the wall. Last time not conceal type very easy to change. BTW I brought from the Rowell Road branch.

Yeah, I am always on the lookout and trying to plan early. As for leg room, it is actually as good as the old days economy for full service flights, of coz those have improved over the years. Imagine the $$$ we paid those days for this type of leg rooms! Sorry to hear about your bad experience but I do experience many of those things mentioned in full service flights too. So guess it depends on who are the passengers at that point of time. But it's all a personal preference.
