Hi jgsy, I am so sorry for the late reply but I've texted you the details Cheers! Yeah, the headache over it and the number of leave taken to coordinate was sure a pain but it is definitely worth it after everything. And.. my last of all my renovations is done, the toilet glass doors are up! Here's how it looks like:- There are some issues with the glass doors as 1) there's no stopper to stop it from opening outwards, 2) it is very hard to close and open due to the plastic flap. We'll be working with the vendor on the rectifications and I hope it can be resolved. Oh, btw, remember at the first few post, I mentioned I wanted to paint a brick wall. Oh well, I found some links about painting/creating the brickwalls on your own. They certainly helped me alot in completing my entire wall! 1) http://loftyromance.blogspot.sg/2011/10/brick-wall-effect.html#comment-form 2) http://do-it-yourselfdesign.blogspot.sg/2012/12/how-to-make-faux-exposed-brick-wall.html At one point, I even contemplated in using wallpaper instead from taobao (http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.25.eKMRRa&id=19655283033&ns=1#detail) Well, I still did my painting and I am quite pleased with it! It's not very very nice but I am just proud and liking it alot Now, I'm awaiting for my furnishings! Yays.

TB loot arrived!@!! I wasn't there to receive it and ID opened all the boxes to make sure that all the items were correct. I'm a wee bit sad that I won't be the one to open them but still super happy that they are here and looking good! Saw some pics from the ID. Will head down shortly (I'm baking bread at the moment and typing this out as I wait for the dough to rest) and play with all my new toys. hee Will post details on the loot a little later. 2 rooms worth of stuff! Can't wait!

Dear all, I had a very bad experience with this mover -- Advance Care Delivery Pte Ltd. This company's registered address is in Tampines St 93. They have another company called Advance Creation 'N' Pack Pte Ltd. The contact person is Bernard. Avoid using Advance Care Delivery Pte Ltd at all costs!! I have a few boxes that need to be transferred to another place. Since there are not many things to be moved, so I decided to look for a small moving company rather than the bigger companies or more established companies but now I regret for not engaging the services from the more established ones!! I called them up a week ago to inquire on the quotation, as well as to ask if they can provide free boxes for moving. The person in charge, Bernard told me that boxes are free and they can deliver to my address before the moving date. They said I have to pay a refundable deposit upon receiving the boxes. I further clarify with them if they will deduct the deposit from the total moving cost on the moving day itself and Bernard said I only have to pay the remaining balance on the moving day. **So far all moving companies that I came across do not charge for boxes if they claimed it is FREE boxes. BUT beware of this company, they will charge you for the so called 'free boxes' and also other hidden costs!** THe moving is scheduled to be few weeks later. they delivered the boxes to me the next day after I called them to make appointment and I noticed those are USED boxes. It's NOT brand new boxes, but USED boxes from previous clients! Well, nevermind, I can still use it for packing. When I start packing my items, I took a look on the receipt given to me again and noticed something is not right! the receipt stated ;the boxes are on loan, with refundable deposit of xx" I was shocked and puzzled, why the FREE boxes have now become 'boxes on loan'?? they did not tell me they only BORROW me the boxes, and NOT giving it to me for FREE. When I called Bernard, he sounded very rude and impatient, asking me what;s my problem so I asked him to clarify, he then shouted over the phone saying 'why you want to keep the boxes? You didn't tell me you want the boxes? Since you are going to unpack, you have to return us the boxes within one month!!" I asked him it was not make known to me the boxes ARE NOT FREE! Other moving companies can provide free boxes, why can't his company provide free boxes as they claimed??? DON't ADVERTISE FREE if it is not meant to be free!! Please see below for their website where they claimed they provide free boxes, free wrapping services and free quotation. Now they want me to return the boxes after I unpack or I will be charged for the boxes!! Does that mean they will charge me for wrapping services and quotation on the moving day itself?! This is ridiculous! http://www.adv-delivery.com/service.html I immediately told him I'm not interested to engage his moving service anymore and I want to return him the boxes, all of it and refund of my deposit. The moving has not done yet and it is scheduled one month later and boxes are not used at all. Guess what the fellow told me? He said vulgarities over the phone and told me cannot refund even though his receipt stated 'refundable deposit'!I'm really pissed off and disappointed with this company! This company has the intention to cheat at the very beginning that's why they said 'free boxes' but on the receipt they wrote another thing hoping that you didn't see it! I kena cheated and I don't want anyone to get cheated by the same company, so please beware of this company and avoid them at all cost! and also kindly spread the words to your family and friends to avoid using this company as they are dishonest and have the intention to cheat at the very beginning! Those who used their services before and who also be cheated by this company, please share your experience here with other readers. Thank you!

I dont know what is a good maid agency ...but I know what I dont need. Be warned about Homeline Management at Punggol 21. I had the worst experience ...the staff there appears at their best with promise of great dedicated service. It ends the monment you pay the agency fee. They wasted 3 weeks of my time. Failing to check with MOM on application, unfamiliar with process and documentation. They will blame any delay on MOM, on YOU and become unprofessional to tell you they are not Minister of Manpower! I have lodged a formal complaint against them to MOM and the agency of maids. I probably will not get any recourse. The least I can do is ensure someone else who reads it take caution against this very unprofessional agency, I am sure I am not the only victim!

List out the work needed to be done and slowly cancel out the wants to reduce the work done. For some carpentry, you can consider getting the ready made kind from outside. Hope this help

Hello, if you mean the common toilet's sink basin, it comes with the bottom cabinet, mirror and side cabinets all bundled into one from taobao.Very cheap. Only $150 for cost of item plus domestic shipping. I don't know how much is international freight cost as I bundled this with my other stuff from tb and ship them all at one over to Sg. The mbr toilet's sink basin was bought at a shop in Blk 122 Bedok North Rd. This lobang is from Nick. We trust Nick's taste so much that whenever prior to getting any fittings we would take a pic n share it in our whatsapp chat group and he will let us know if it's good design or don't fit nicely with the interior design concept. And because we got all this by ourselves, no worries about the usual case of IDs jacking up price cos Nick doesn't even earn from all this. This value added service by him is one of the most valued quality we like about Nick. He's almost very prompt in his replies unless he's eating crabs for dinner, even jokes with us. Funny person lah he.

Thanks Songz. My only worry is the texture. Will it be hard to mop the kitchen floor due to the texture? And from the materials I choose, the kitchen will be kind of black/white Colour plus lots and lots of *bling *bling kind. Today start work already! Nick told me some minor prep works in on the way! Can't wait can't wait! Nick is fast man! I was expecting work to start in 2-3 weeks time. But he is good and plan well, do some minor work first, at least things start moving already. Woohoo! I'm a happy man today!

Dear Bros & Sis, I saw my neigbour using a very useful gadget and it's something like a string mechanism attached to a normal aluminium bamboo pole and she loads all the hangers with cloths on the pole just outside the window, pulls the string and the hangers are pulled out quite evenly along the bamboo pole. Anyone knows where to get this kind of laundry system?

Some pointers to share and lessons learnt during my makeover 1. Prepare. I am always prepared before every meeting with the contractors. I have a list of things prepared to ask and discuss with the contractors…give them my specifications, and discuss whether they are workable, etc. Then, after every meeting, I would email my requirements, that has been discussed, or some things that I have missed out , to Henry, so at least its in black and white…just in case, any dispute arises, besides, it is useful when seeking legal recourse if the need ever arises…hopefully not. 2. Dont assume their standard dimensions is equal to your expectations..eg their standard height for kitchen cabinet may not be what you expect. So do be specific if you are particular like me 3. Remember...most if not all contractors dont do metric! They still use feet and inches...carpentry work, mirrors, solid surface, etc Try to convey your requirements directly to the contractor in charge , if it passes through many levels eg from ID to contractor to subcontractor to worker, it may get "lost in translation". Well, mine did...c'est la vie 4. You need to have an idea of what you want, you are the one living in your home, not them, so dont let them dictate what they want for your home. Its easy for them to propose this and that to you, it may look nice at that moment, but will it be practical, costs, or can you live with it for a long time to come? 5. I have spent a lot of time planning my kitchen, poring through magazines, checking showflats, etc... believe me, there have been countless combinations of colour schemes, design, layout for my kitchen I have toyed with in my mind...... I like this one, hmm solid colours, and this one too, and this one also, wood laminates....alamak, how??? They all look really good.... but ultimately, had to choose only one. ( You can check out my kitchen inspirations here( will update if I see nice ones )..some are fellow forumers' ( thanks ) http://s437.photobucket.com/albums/qq96/ko...tion/?start=all 6. Kitchen planning: Renovating a kitchen is not cheap, so plan carefully and make sure its the kitchen you want..you will be the one using it, not them. Do consider the following, but its still up to one's preference: a. height of kitchen cabinet...usually varies from 85cm to 90cm from floor to countertop b. height of hood to coutertop..usually min distance of 65cm to 70cm c. height of drawers for your cutleries and crockeries..use the internal height,...too shallow, you may not be able to put in your tall stuffs like bottles, jugs. Too deep and you have to remove stacks of plates before you can reach the bottom, or wasted space at the top. d. soft closing mechanism...very useful, there are cheaper alternatives like MOBILE e. depth of your countertop f. dead corners...consider options like magic corners, pie cuts, or none at all g. consider wide drawers for lower cabinets where possible...full extension runners are useful and practical. h. do you need base for fridge or washer? Nowadays, not really...a fridge base will limit your choices in case of replacement. i. visit BLUM or Hettich website for more useful tips on kitchen planning. 7. Do consider the height of your vanity top and your basin. I find the standard height of 85cm too low for comfort. After mounting the basin in my master toilet, it is at a more comfortable height to wash my face in the basin, without bending your back so much. 8. Just recently, saw wallpaper done at a friend's place. I noticed that the wallpaper was not neatly cut around the switch...not very nice,IMO.( will try to take a pic ) I think its best to dismantle the switch and mount it over so as to overlap the cut out edges , be it mirror or wallpaper, to give a nicer and neater finish. 9. Painting the cabinets/doors or repolishing your marble walls...remove any objects if possible eg door handles, shower bar, toilet paper holder, etc...so you get better results ...if they wont remove( they would just tape round it) , do it yourself. 10. Engaging your own contractors?? Yes and No. Yes...if they are independent works from the rest eg..sliding glass door, mirrors, marble polishing No, IMO, if you are redoing a whole place eg in my case, the kitchen, a lot of coordination needed among the subcontractors like tiler, carpentry, plasterer, plumbers, electrician...and if things dont go right, its easier for the contractor to get them back again...a lot of teamwork involved here. 11. Last but not least, you may have the best laid plans or dreams for your renovation, but you will still need someone to help transform them into reality, so take your time and choose your ID/ contractor wisely and carefully.
