I have semi DIY project ( I can source the parts) but I think I will need an electrician to do the actual job for me. I purchased the Belkin Wemo Light switch from Australia (as Singapore does not sell it and USA version runs on 110V. The AU version runs on 240V, 5Amp) and planned on swapping my bedroom light-switch with it. The idea is to use my phone to turn off and on my bedroom lights. Unfortunately, the Wemo light switch does not fit into our standard wall mounted back boxes. Not giving up, I also bought the back box (and face plate) that would fit the wemo light-switch. Now that I have all the component needed, My last step is to replace the light switch and back box with the new set. Can I engage the services of an electrician to replace it or must I do it myself? (cos I am not sure if an electrician will want to do this).. Any advise? Cos if this side project works, I want to replace all my other bedrooms light switches with Wemo light switches..

Hi all, Wish to get high quality curtains for living room (night and day curtains) and master bedroom (total blackout curtains). One of the two master bedroom windows is weird U-shaped. Anyone can recommend good curtain makers who would come to our home to quote? We need rails and curtains. How abt Spotlight? Prior to key collections, we sent several RFQ out, but the responds are really weak/poor (might be due to EOY or CNY closure period, they are rushing to settle their existing projects and no time to entertain us!). But managed to met up/get quotations with few IDs and contractor: - A D D space Interior (Need to space the letters out cos the system auto censor it) - Mr.K - The Interior Lab - Artelier Tang - Cosy Living - Inspired Designs *PS: Did not really met all of them, but had indicated in our emails what we want and the materials we want. ID Choice Eventually, we went ahead with Dave from Inspired Designs. The quote they gave are reasonable, due to we will be doing a lot of carpentry works, our reno cost is higher than normal. Having a budget to meet, so have to cut cost from various measures (keeping whole concept towards minimalistic.) Renovation cost about Mid $30k before Electrical Cost. Likewise, been a silent reader of RT and since "Ghost month" has ended thought to start my T-Blog and be diligent in updating it Showcasing my floor plan (tad dirty coz of the scribbles *lol*) Technically, my reno has kicked off but I have been quite shabby and slack in my Reno journey so items are delayed here and there. Hi, I am curious if any of the pros here have experience in painting over rough textured wall? I initially thought of smoothening it myself using the Joint Compound then paint over it. What is the recommendation? and How much would it cost to ask a contractor to smoothen and paint the wall?

Now moving on to my Shabby Chic theme which I am hoping to achieve! Why Shabby Chic? I love love whites and light pastels! Kind of influenced by Europe and Rachel Ashwell. Things which are old but not retro. Things which has a distressed look. SO you can foresee, my EM will be drenched in white Not sure how I am going about my shabby chic theme but these are the moods which I have searched on.

I think I decided to give up my search on taobao! There are a million items in there!! I could have taken up a whole day to do that.... So tough to find something.... Finally short listed the following... Thinking of putting this on the dining wall near my kitchen entrance Since my house is painted white... I think this will certainly add some life to the house...

Thanks Vicx, In the case I will put a deposit for the tiles even before I finalise my contractor so as to cater for the lead time to wait for the tiles..... The shade of the cement screed look is impt... I will not settle for other shades if it's not wad I want... =) thank you so much....
