  1. mm merryman.. dun worry about your budget. I also went around all the IDs telling them I only had 12k to do my house. Nearly got doors slammed in my face I think. hahahah Never mind, I've learnt to be more thick skinned I guess. Ivy is right. You need to set aside cash for stuff so you might want to take a full loan for your reno. Besides it's always safer to keep some cash with you for emergencies. Yup you must get the quote then you can apply for the loan. So try to get everything included in the quote. You have to submit the quotation (in english) to the bank for the loan. You can live without some furnitures first and slowly buy... LIke I dun have a dining table. haha

  8. *gasps* that was the light I wanted to put in my room!!! hahah but I was vetoed!! I love how you left everything in plain colours then put the floral blinds. That's one way to add a feature without being overpowering... nice!
  9. heheh maybe it'll have a lot of washing machines.... Aiyah... he's obviously going around leaving all kinds of negatives comments to see what we say... LOL

  16. Hope you got your quote today... mmm why wouldn't he reveal figure I wonder. Normally he will give a ballpark over the phone. mm mm TW should be ok I guess. My sis and BIL travel to and fro TW very often without problems.... Just be very careful on the plane. I think being in a confined place breathing in recycled air for many hours is one of the key problems.
  17. sigh.. I check my CC bill every month alr very sian. sigh.
  18. You're so right. When I was planning for my house, I also thought of my parents too. At the end of the day, I hope they can live here for the rest of the lives without worrying about anything... so tile-picking was crucial. I was wondering though if the roughness of the current tiles will wear off... Just some info for the rest.. There are rough black strips which you can purchase to stick across your floor to help provide friction. It's not a long term solution and the strips need to be changed every 10-12 months? I think I saw them at DIY and at Ikea before. I was going to tell Aubrey this, then I realise that Elder Goh re-did for her... which is even better. Aiyah when you reach my age I will be much older liao... pass the big 3-0. hehehe Looking forward to pictures of your cosy home!
  19. Must be gold plated ones. horrible leh. And their stuff isn't cheap in the first place.. it can be goodwill just to install the things you want... Isn't that their specialty? To personalise for their customer? haiz I feel upset. ... even though it's not my wardrobe. But dun care la. Maybe next time you can find something that you can install on your own. Glad to hear that your laminates are finalised!!
  20. wah fannie! Today I saw your lock selling outside... "SALE: $988" *faints* price diff so much!!!
  21. Whoohoo! I know what you mean rdnest! haha every single little thing put up sparked some excitement for me. So much sand in place already!!! Seems like Alan is doing a pretty good job so far. BTW I got most of my stuff from S&C but I read some people's bad feedback.. so i'm keeping my fingers crossed. I think... sometimes it varies from shipment to shipment. so far so good for me
  22. polishing? hehe why polishing before carpentry? hehe I dunno la Mine was all done together. haha
  23. I used the wet magic clean also leh but it's really not as effective as kneeling down to mop. Thankfully I had two helpers to do it with me otherwise I cannot imagine asking my parents to do it. They so old... haiz. The wet magic clean can only be used after maybe 2-3 rounds of mopping ba. I agree it's super tiring. LOL SOMEONE RECORD IT FOR ME! lol super funny. I know what you guys mean actually... when it's very obvious that it's hollow I can tell.. but I can't tell if it's subtle... hard of hearing I guess. (sigh) MmM Uncle does need someone to manage finances. He's really bad at it.
