This is a late review but I see it as a confirmation of the quality of Field and Country Concept’s workmanship. I ordered a craft closet of sorts from Field almost 3 years ago, and recently contacted him again to do some touch ups and also changing of the wheels. (The wheels has stripped as it’s the nature of rubber.) However, what I am most delighted about Field’s professionalism is that even though the project has already ended after 3 years, he still made sure that the closet is up to standard, and asking me if I wanted anything to be fixed or adding more stuff like shelves etc. There was nothing to be fixed because everything worked perfectly for 3 years, despite constant abuse (I’m notorious for not taking good care of my stuff). I casually mentioned that I wanted more dowels to store more washi tapes, and Field immediately asked me to send him some photos, and arrived with a solution that was way better than I had anticipated. I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about other carpenters having shoddy workmanship, and this made me realise how lucky I am to even be able to find Field as the very first carpenter I work with to get this work done.If I have to make another craft closet, I will definitely go to Country Concept again, no questions ask.- 1 reply

Hey guys, I am here to share my experience working with Singapore Carpentry. I have heard a lot of horror stories regarding renovation so I was sceptical about finding a good interior designer, to say the least. A friend of mine recommended me to this company and helped me to get an appointment with Ernest Tan. He was very patient with me and really listened to the concerns I had regarding this process. He explained how the whole renovation process works, the approximate duration it would take and give me a range of how much this whole renovation would cost. I showed him the kind of style I wanted my home to be like and passed him my floor plan and a couple of days later he sent me a sketch of my home (Landed property: Living room, Kitchen, Dining room, 4 Bedrooms) and I was sold. I signed the contract a week after that and it was the best decision I’ve made for my new home. He sent me a more detailed 3D sketch subsequently and everything was a breeze from there. Ernest handled everything from start to finish (plumbing, electrical wiring, tiling, ceiling etc were all in-house services so he arranged everything). There were a couple of hiccups here and there with contractors (there was a delay from contractors doing false ceiling and so the other work like tiling etc had to be delayed as well) but Ernest was on site to handle all these matters personally and made sure that there would be no delay on the dateline that was given to me (12 weeks). I was impressed with Ernest regarding this specific occasion. So I spoke to a few other IDs regarding this particular concern I had and all but Ernest told me he would make it work. I wanted to convert my backyard from what was plain and empty into one where my family could lounge around and relax in. All the IDs told me they couldn’t do this work at the budget I was willing to set aside, but Ernest made that possible for me. He really helped me cut cost where he could and advised me on certain materials that I could substitute so it still serves the purpose without expanding a hole in my pocket. Another thing I need to highlight is their carpentry work. They handle these services in-house, so it's much cheaper than what you get outside for the same quality and workmanship, so I really recommend this service if you are looking for one. I got all my cabinets done by them for kitchen, wardrobe etc and everyone comments on how sleek they look. The whole renovation work took slightly less than 11 weeks. I finished my house renovation recently with luxur. A lot of my guests who came to my house and say my house design is very homely, I tell them luxur is my ID. Then, one of my friends sent me some link because they are interested in getting luxur to quote for their penthouse. I am shocked to see the reviews because my experience with luxur is very smooth. I actually walked in their office randomly and beam served us with our enquiry. The second meeting was on site, I am impressed because they showed us with 3D board already before we engage them. After seeing a few designers, me and my wife decided to go with luxur even though their price is higher. We liaise with Alan more during the renovation, we really appreciated him because we made a few last mins changes for the carpentry design and we thought we can't move in our fengshui set time. But Alan rush and complete all the major changes but let his worker come in to install handle and cushion for bench seating after we move it a week later. After i see the review, I am very curious and we chit-chat with them the other day. They explained the entire story to me it was a case few years ago, they didn’t do a perfect job as what the client is expected and so the relationship went quite bad with this only client. I think they are quite sincere, at least they don’t deny when I asked them. This is why I am happy to leave a good review for them. They told me they learnt from the mistake and improve themselves, which I can promise they complete my house renovation nicely, just like they help me with my last min request so i can move in time, I am really thankful for this. They show me the CNN office project photo they just completed and the testimonial from CNN on their facebook page. So I definitely support them and recommend them to my friends.

For anyone who wants to do reno or get ID, pls do not get the ones recommended by renotalk app especially not Mon Werkz, Ron and Eileen husband and wife team who claims to have 10 tens experience. Our reno had so much problems and delays, I feel tired to even list them. I was gonna let everything go, not gd to be angry for long right? But today is really the final straw that prompt me to share this with everyone. So here's the full story. 1. Reno stretched from 6wks to almost 10wks. 2. Parquet floor got damaged and creaks at night. Bcoz work not scheduled properly and alot of major mistakes to fix, floor was polished then carpentry installation scratched again. 3. ID no design ideas, we had to send samples from Pinterest to adapt, ask for his opinion always say ya ok, as long as you like. 4. Ask repeatedly to see carpentry drawing but only 3D render with no actual dimension them some came out wrong. 5. New doors all scratched from reno. 6. Paint and plaster was subcon to a single Indian man and charged professional rate, plastering is rough like the road at some part. Paint uneven can see white underneath. 7. Carpentry wrong dimension, doors don't open properly lucky some redo. 8. Floor vinyl instructed to install whole house underneath carpentry but didn't follow. This is the best part. Now they msg to ask whether can come to take measurement coz vinyl guy overcharge them. So I ask if there is rebate of fryr us. They say supplier over charged them but they didn't overcharge us! LOL! Got such thing or not??? -

Protect your MONEY and your INTEREST because there are just one too many 'ID firms' in the market. I think this post is somewhat informative. Correct me if I'm wrong! The Fact - Meets up to understand your needs/wants, requirements, budget at their showroom/office - Proposal with a general direction, floor plan in drawing and of course the ballpark figure. Foresees all possible hiccups, minimizes 'hidden costs' so of course the final figure looks bigger - Charges a professional fee of $1k up. - 10-20% deposit payment upon confirmation (Anything more is fishy!!) - Proceeds with detailed drawings, selection of materials (should be mostly if not all done by the designer themselves), then subsequently 3D upon confirmation. You can get a hard copy for safekeeping too btw. - 3D perspective should reflect the final works done - Shopping for lightings, sanitaries, curtains etc. Advice and recommendations on furniture and fittings is a plus point - Schedule preparation, then application of all necessary paperworks and documentations - Execution of works with accordance and reference to the detailed drawings with weekly reports - Rectifications and touch-ups at arranged time/date to home owner's convenience The Fiction: - Meets up to understand your needs/wants, requirements, budget set aside at your convenience (your home, shopping malls, cafes, restaurants) - Proposal with a quotation, generally a price 'too good to be true'. - Design fees absorbed/ FOC design fees. (No professionals become professionals for free). Sometimes even with 3D at the proposal! (a standard template) - Absurdly low fees to 'secure-the-offer-today' of $500-$2000 with no reference to the project amount. Might be even before proposal. (too much is fishy, too low also fishy, so just stick to 10-20%) - Proceeds with drawings after you selected all your materials. Ok, maybe it's just some pencil-drafted standard stencil - 3D perspective should reflect the final works done - Shopping for lightings, sanitaries, curtains etc. Advice and recommendations on furniture and fittings is a plus point - Schedule preparation, then application of all necessary paperworks and documentations - Execution of works solely based on their experiences and speech. No paper references except for 3D (which might not be yours in the first place) - Disappears after the handover, probably delayed Feel free to add comments and suggestions in case i miss out anything!

We met up with Field on June 12 to discuss works for kitchen carpentry, bed frames, room doors and book shelf. He appeared professional and led the conversation efficiently. At wrap-up, he said he is very busy at the moment and will need two weeks to prepare the quotation, which we agreed. As a follow-up, I also sent him a picture of our preferred bed frame a day after our meeting, to which he did not reply. Three weeks later, I sent him a message and asked if the quotation is ready. He did not reply. At the end of the week, I sent him another message and asked if he is still interested with our business, and requested him to give me an answer either way. Both messages were written with good tone. He did not reply. The next week, after calling him multiple times to no avail, I called his sister, Lane for help. She gave a weak apology and said will check with her brother. For the whole day, I did not receive any reply from him and he did not answer any of my calls. I got upset only when my calls started to go to voice mail. Thinking he might have blocked my call, I asked my sister to call him on her mobile as it is unknown to him. Amazingly, he answered and even agreed to an appointment on the same evening under the impression that this is a new business prospect. He was surprised when we showed up at the door but he immediately gave an apology as he perfectly understand his lack of service. During our conversation, I explained my disappointment to him and said I had expected him to have professionalism, take responsibility and maintain communication. We were perfectly fine if he could not take our request but all we want is a word from him. Although he apologized, it was insincere as he put it very clearly to us that we should not expect any of the "common manners" from him as other contractors are other contractors. He is himself. He works alone. He is overworked. He can't meet our timeline. Current customers whom have exchanged money with him are the most important and we are not. We should not expect professionalism or maintaining of contact with him as it is what other people do. He has his own style. So basically the message is, he has already apologized to us. What else do we want from him? This is exactly the millennial mindset and attitude that is utterly frustrating these days. Do not expect them taking responsibility as customers should pity them instead. Remember! If you did not exchange money with them, you are not important.

A beautifully designed room built around the conceptual idea of a black and white simplistic modern design which also reimburses itself in classical abstract lines. The contrast in lighting helps with bringing out the details of the room from the art pieces and interior decor material. Spotlights help bring out a gallery perspective on the elements of the room and can be seen to be a good way of completing the experience A stunning set of classical furniture flavored with artistic elements which are used to highlight the atmosphere of the room without taking too much away from the cleanliness aspect of the whole picture. Even the kitchen has an artistic feel to it that is thrown out of place with the floral-abstract wallpaper contrast and the use of a black fridge. The bunk bed is built in and non-removable with a hard thick design that matches the environment of the whole home. Opposing walls are textured or painted differently to bring out contra without much distraction from the main purity theme of the overall design. We can see here again that subtle black and white decor is the best preference to keep everything in line with the main theme of the design. Lastly, we have a slightly darker shade of wallpaper with a repeated square pattern housing abstract art and design cues from energy and nature.

Hi all, Just here to briefly share my pleasant experience with my ID. I had compared several ID firms previously but ended up choosing this ID which I do not regret! I stumbled upon this ID firm when I was making my rounds around several buildings with all the ID firms while looking around the showrooms. (BTW good to get a few quotations from several firms before deciding!!) I was pretty skeptical as the design firm looked small scale but approached them anyways, as i wanted more options. I ended up choosing this ID as I felt that designer was sincere and there was chemistry . Other ID kept hard selling and just wen through their usual sales pitch with a general quotation... My ID had no qualms about asking what are my requirements and slowly went through all the areas with us then drafting up a customized quotation. It was also good that our designer was understanding and helped to alter the designs according to fengshui I had requested haha. We kept bothering her with questions and changes (oops) but she was patient and provided opinions and made changes accordingly. Final result of the house was great! Worth it although it wasn't the cheapest quotation but it matched market rate so it was acceptable. But maybe its due to a lot of inbuilt and carpentry that I wanted to get done hahaha.
