Quick photo update...

Dining Table

Just arrived from KODA. We will get a bench on the left side. Actually.. we already have a bench but it is being used as coffee table now. :P

Got it because the edges were all rounded. Good for clumsy people like me.

NICE! :) I really like the look of this area. I wish I have a wooden top dining table, but hubby says it will get scratched easily. :(

You have copper, iron or stainless steel pipes for water ?

If you have copper or stainless Steel then the iron / rust taste is more likely to come from the blocks storage tank. Depends on which floor you are on as to whether your apartment are direct from the mains or via a tank though.

Pipe replacement within your apartment will require a plumber. Outside, ie. the blocks water tank, will require you to talk to HDB.

I realize.. it is not rust but the smell of detergent (how'd I mix them up anyway). Oddly, there's a strong smell of my clothes detergent under the sink where I used to store the big pack. Now its stored elsewhere but the smell still stays and affects the water, even after airing it overnight. Have placed some charcoal there yesterday, hope it improves! Thanks for the advice anyway :)

Thanks! Maybe tempered glass over the wooden top? Still has the woody feel.

Long time since last update. :)

Fiber broadband is ready, and I have the default wireless router (or residential gateway) in the living room with the TV, and cable-connected to my study upstairs where I have another wireless router. The 2nd router acts like a switch and lets the first router do most of the work. Otherwise, the signal from downstairs is not strong enough from the bedrooms.

Shower glass door came loose, but got my contractor to get some guys to fix it yesterday. Guess I shouldn't have been scrubbing too hard?

Still looking for some furniture to fill the house... ;)

Coffee Table - delivery next week, I hope

Chose white to match all the whitey stuff in living room.

Study Tables / Chairs / Shelves

Been trying to figure this out.... can't find anything we like yet. Not even sure of the layout. lol.

Too many considerations... don't want monitor to face windows coz of glare, don't want to face windows also coz of glare (will have blinds though). And don't really want screen to face the door, prefer some privacy. Will doodle some possible layouts and post again. :P

hehe.. I don't frequent the forum that much la.

This table is made from fibreglass, not sure if it is that prone to scratches, but I guess it would. My kitchen top already has some small scratches, but its white so not obvious la.

Expecting the coffee table this Saturday... finally can eat in front of TV with a real table and not the bench... lol

We were looking for a coffee-table of this design! Like the rounded edges.. it gives a modern retro feel.

Came across similar ones a couple of times.. but price way off budget.

How much did u get it for? =)

$159! Special price coz of the blemishes, its the only set. beds.sg has this at $229 I think, but out of stock right now.

Agree, hard to find such designs at under $300. Most are marketed as "designer" and hence the heftier price tag.

I'm a sucker for round edges too. keke

u can buy those transparent plastic film from hardware shops as protection. They sell it by per metre length.

But need to cut the film yourself and prices not cheap.. (the thicker it is, the higher it costs)

My parents' place uses that, and I intend to get it too to protect my high-gloss furniture. :)

This table is not entirely smooth. Undulating in fact, looks as if it was handmade, with imperfections here and there. So maybe film won't be too suited.

Now hor.. the table is so WHITE... that it made my walls and tv console look so not white. lol

Has been almost half year since getting my keys, and after alot of hiccups and dilly dallying, the reno is finally almost complete. Some of you may have already seen some of the pictures.. lol. Most of the delay was from my side, buy things very slowly, and sometimes because some things we ordered were out of stock. -.-"

We did not go for anything fancy, just simple refurbishing. Everything will look lagi simple!

As the unit was over 25 years old, almost everything had to be changed... from floor tiles, to all windows, all doors, wiring, etc etc. This is 5M, not EM. So floor area is about 15-20sqm smaller than a typical EM.

To start off, here's the floor plan! Together with some doodling for location of power points, switches and lights.

<img src="http://www.bay.to/house/floorplan_electrical.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Only spoke to 1 ID and 1 contractor. Each had items that were cheaper or more expensive, but the contractor was slightly cheaper and wifey preferred the contractor.

So far, a number of screwups here and there (due to miscomm, etc etc), but the contractor was able to rectify or offer alternatives so all's still good!

Will add pictures slowly... man man lai~

Stuff purchased so far...

Contractor's bill is about $39k. Carpenter I engaged separately, about $10k for kitchen, mbr wardrobe, toilet cabinet, tv console.
