Curtains Order Placed after design challenges in bedrooms!

Today we met the curtain lady Ms. Evelyn referred by our ID. We found her quite good and knowledgeable. She brought several samples and met us in our unit. She suggested few options after taking into account our requirement, painting colors etc.

After studying the lighting condition of the home, she suggested we go for curtains for our home instead of blinds. Our living is full height window. So we decided to go for day and night type curtain.

Our initial idea was to go for blinds for all bedrooms. Our bedroom windows are full width bay type. Each window is 8 feet wide + a funny small side window panel (supposedly a design feature of excellence from our esteemed HDB designers!) on one side.

If we go for blinds, it will invariably leak light because we need to go for 2 blinds to cover the full width + didn't know how to cover the light seepage from the small side window; also we wanted to fix the blinds near the window as much as possible to make use of the bay window area to keep small display items / photographs etc. It will not be possible design wise if we go for blinds. So we opted to do L-shaped curtains for all rooms so that curtains can cover the side window too.

From the samples she brought, we choose few colors and designs for the different rooms. We decided to go with her and placed the order. We have 2 weeks for the curtains to be delivered and installed.

I will soon upload the window design challenge and the fabric we have chosen.

Oh shocks!

What did I do? Managed to get only one pic of the curtain so far. Rest of the pics, I have requested my curtain lady to send again.

Till then, I can only share my girl bedroom curtain choice:

Carpentry delay:

Now eagerly waiting for cabinets to arrive and carpentry installation.

ID tells me that Kitchen cabinets are ready; but the living carpentry which is the major work is finishing only early next week. The carpenter wants to deliver both at the same time to save one trip from Malaysia.

This delay has an impact on the Kompactplus - because Kompactplus measurements can be done only after carpentry is installed. After the measurements, it will take two weeks for kompactplus to be installed.

So in the meantime, fingers crossed and have to twiddle my thumbs ; oh yes, I can keep posting my silly updates in Renotalk :yeah:

True to my words, I am back to post this silly update on the bedroom window challenge I mentioned in my earlier post.

Here's couple of pictures of the "FUNNY" side window panel that posed a challenge for installing roller blinds:

I never doubted the usefulness of Renotalk blog.

My belief was reinforced once again today.

Thanks to another Renotalker "Chococat" , I was able to identify out an issue with the aircon water pipe outlet in my common bathroom.

The aircon guy laid the pipe along the floor to the drain. I was not too comfortable with that pipe because it might attract mold and also difficult to clean. After reading the blog, I called up my ID and asked him to cut away the pipe above floor level.

Big day today after a few days of lull. Yesterday we met with ID to push for the pending works to complete. Our revised target to completion is 1st week of Nov.

Hopefully carpentry guys are here to install the cabinets after one week delay.

Electrician is also supposed to come back to fix the rest of the lights.

Aircon supposed to install the aircon.

Fingers crossed. :dunno:
