2 pointsYawnnnn.. Really can't be bothered with my wedding preparation already... So many things to do... Ahhhhh... Our house defects have since been rectified some time ago... For everyone's reference sake, it took 2 weeks to complete.. My dear CFO is once again seated beside me trying to collate all our purchases on #TaoBao.. But that shall be a topic for another day.. A lot of things I want to update everyone but I must resist and continue on the chronological order of my renovation journey... QUICK UPDATE ON MORE PURCHASES We bought a Weldenbo Carl fabric sofa (L212 x D89 x H70) & the large-size powder-pinkish DLM table for our living area from #Grafunkt about a month ago because they were running an offer.. Before discount, the sofa costs a WHOPPING $2800.. CFO & I managed to get it at $2200.. And we went ahead with the purchase only because I am so hopelessly in love with the fabric sofa and it's oak wooden pencil legs.. hehehe Even now, I would swoon over its prettiness... The 100% cotton light grey fabric has a really cooling effect when you sit on it as it doesn't retain body heat.. And as for the DLM (Don't Leave Me) table, we would like to think that it will offer a nice splash of pastel colour to our living room too... We might match the DLM table with the previously purchased #Muuto oak coffee table... Got the DLM table at $375, compared to usual price of $441... Yes yes I know I am a spendthrift... I'm just starting to realise actually.. I usually don't buy anything for myself one lei.. Light grey #Grafunkt fabric sofa + Pink DLM table from #Grafunkt: Moving on, CFO & I also decided to do away with the custom-made nyatoh wall planter and replace it with 2 sets of #Grafunkt Circus... with #CalvinTan's blessings of course hehe 1x taller unit (H134) and 1x shorter unit (H78).. The taller unit will be custom-spray-painted in mint green & the shorter unit in pastel blue.. Original price of $960 ($495+$465) reduced to $800.. A little cheaper than #CalvinTan's nyatoh wall planter... Heh heh.. #Grafunkt Circus (1x tall unit & 1x shorter unit) from #Grafunkt: Last but not least, CFO & I finally decided on our dining area pendant lights... We are getting the #Miniforms Slope Light which resembles an inverted ice-cream cone! hehehe.. I realise that I am going a bit oak-bonkers in my furnishing.. Please pardon my taste... We went for a combination of 3 pendant lights.. Decided on having 1x light grey, 1x white & 1x mustard yellow in differing shapes for more contrast at the pre-dominantly white dining area... However #Grafunkt didn't carry the mustard yellow version, so had to buy 1 piece from #XTRA (saw it before on one of our trips there)... Costs approximately $270 per light... *cue sound of pocket burning* #Miniforms Slope Light from #Grafunkt (mustard yellow version from #XTRA): Will probably be too busy to blog until after my wedding on Sunday! Fingers crossed that everything goes well! And then after that... I CAN FOCUS ALL MY TIME AND ENERGIES ON MY BELOVED RENOVATION! WOOHOO!

1 pointHi For those who engaged Eric, what switches did he give? MK Switches? Before I confirmed with him, he said will be using MK. When he finished most of the electrical work and I went back to see, he gave Feng Yip swithces (the rocker switches with a flower logo at the bottom right). He's not honest, he tot I dun know tat switch is from Feng Yip.

1 pointHi everyone, Recently, I bought that kitchen Faucet from amazon USA: http://www.amazon.co...n/dp/B004YXD5II because of its looks and great reviews. However, when my plumber tried to install that, he told me that the thread screw cannot be fit correctly. Can any one here help me?? Thanks in advance

1 pointPersonally I will advise people who buy lights to use Peeka and remind them to check for you when it reaches their warehouse. (*Note : Ask seller not to crate it so Peeka can check for you, you can request Peeka to bubble wrap and crate it after that) For other items, you can use other forwarders who offer better rates. (*Juz my 2 cents worth and hope it helps)

1 pointHi Songz, yes it is much neater than before but there's room for improvement. It is not easy to keep stuff neat after a year of stay. Need to declutter soon 😁 The treadmill was 2nd hand and given by a friend. Been put to good use! My personal gym at home with the ceiling fan or aircon on plus my own favourite music blasting!

1 pointSome how I prefer a round down light as down light is fixed by cutting a hole in the false ceiling. Round one dont need a perfect round to fix in but a square one needs a proper square to sit in, else misalignment might be pretty obvious. And if the hole needs to be patch back, normally are done by plastering and likely not gonna hold properly as well. I did consider the down lights with glass edges, looks classy and elegant but the thought of cleaning and dust collect puts me off. And yes, keep this thread clear of TB questions, Mrs Lee had issued ultimatum. For folks interested to TB, I had updated a little on my blog.

1 pointcongrats on your wedding! seems like your renovation and furniture buying is pretty expensive, seems like mine too, either do it now or regret later.

1 pointDigressing.... for more info on TB purchases, hubby aka mrlee08 will update separately. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So updates on our home again. We've rectified fully the 2nd defect list which we submitted and everything has been checked and signed off. The supervisor in charge of our black was a really nice foreign worker and helped us arrange many rectification on the side in the unofficial way instead of going through the BSC office. That definitely helped to speed up the process for us! With that out of the way, it means that reno will be starting soon! So hubby and I have decided that reno day 1 will be 11th June for us - as that's the day that aircon trunking has been arranged as well. So exciting! ID and his site supervisor have also been informed... looks like we're set to start things rolling very soon. Over the weekend, hubby and I went over to Heritage @ Geylang to buy some outstanding items which we've been procrastinating to buy. So we went back to buy our Mayer oven, Delizia Tabla Cap hood and Joven 25L storage heater. All at the most competitive pricing which I've been offered so far. In fact, Heritage is having massive GSS sale right now! Most items at 40% off... it's really a good place to visit to buy your kitchen/bathroom items now! It will last all the way till end-June, so hurry! One thing though, the Delizia hood I had my eye on had unfortunately increased price by over $100!! Luckily we managed to get them to maintain the price which was offered to us previously (3 months ago) and they managed to do so. The thing I like about Heritage is that they will write down the prices offered to you and keep in record so that it is sort of in 'black and white'... this shows their sincerity in doing business with their customers. And it really sits well with us! We will be going back to buy some more items soon like toilet accessories and ceiling fan.

1 pointHi peeps, As Songz had put it, I think I ought to update all on the status of my reno. Have to give credit when credit is due. I have closed the case with my renovator as well as this chapter of my life (wahhh sound so drama ma ma). They have rectified the issues I had pointed out to them. Thanks to the boss who stepped in. Like what TS had said, all these would have been avoided if he had done so earlier. That being said, must give a thumb up for Dr Sky Tan for being "a man of his words". Wishing all ....a smooth-sailing renovation. NOW, it's time for me to enjoy the fruit of my 'labour'!! Cheers~

1 pointInteresting short journey so far! My opinion on your Rinnai inner flame hob. I totally disagree with your ID on tempered glass hobs. It might look just that bit sleeker but there are points to consider. A few considerations on tempered glass: can't take extreme heat and might crack if any boiling hot pot is placed directly onto it.can't take high impact hits too.scratches are permanent.this is only for the Rinnai tempered glass hob. Notice there's a rubber lining between the stainless steel strips and glass at the top and bottom of the hob? Rubber tends to disintegrate over time. It's a natural process but that process gets accelerated with heat, corrosive liquids and also physical impact like rubbing during cleanups. Even if it doesn't disintegrate, there's a fair chance that it could get torn accidentally during cooking/cleaning.Tempered glass hob can be used but you just have to be more careful during usage and maintenance. My opinion is that the stainless steel hob looks far better than tempered glass and the bonus is it's about half the price too. Anyway, the Scandinavian theme is all about simple clean lines (regardless of material) which the stainless steel version exhibits too. Btw I went through these considerations when choosing my hob too. Hope it helps

1 pointOne of the issues with buying on Taobao is that there are so many options and you can't see or tell if it is the option you want. In our case, it was lights, we are not sure if 3w, 7w, 12w, 18w etc is bright enough for us or how many lights and wattage for each do we want to have on a track or whether 正白光 is too cool for us and how warm is 暖白光.. Especially since lighting preference is so subjective. We bought some track lights on Taobao to test before we buy that all we need. We asked around at local hardware store but they didn't seem to sell a device that test lights. So we bought this light testing device on Taobao instead. Turns out, it was really good for our purpose. We attached the end of the track we bought to the crocodile clips of this device. And then attach the track lights to the track. The large one is a 12W 暖白光 (warm white light). The small one is a 3W 正百光 (normal white light) 正白光(normal white light) feels a little too cool for us. 暖白光 (warm white light) feels more suited for us. This light testing device is awesome. When we receive the other Taobao lights, we are going to test them before they get installed just to make sure they are working, of the suitable temperature and bright enough.

1 pointHi, anyone had done something of a cartoonised interior design for their home or can recommend any IDs/contractors who had done before? I had only seen rezt and relax who did a winnie the pooh theme design at the moment. The major work is the customised head design for the tv console and bed headboard and thus will like to get someone who had done this type of customisation before.

1 pointmould is related to the humidity of the room, the plank (what type of wood), and a number of factors. my suggestion as follow: 1) take out the plank and sun them if possible 2) buy a can of clear lacquer, those that look like spray paint of different color. but choose "clear lacquer" 3) spray on all sides of the plank. it should be able to resolve or at least be able to prolonged the it greatly.

1 pointI use my Karcher steam cleaner for grout, together with the hard bristle brush that comes with it. Fantastic, no cleaning agent required, just hot steam. Used to try with bleach and the magic sponge, but bleach "eats" the grout and magic sponge "eats my nails and household gloves".
