  1. hi donut88, i'm using the ceramic series you can check out the specs at http://www.huperoptikusa.com/products_ceramic.cfm it cost around $15psf excluding transport and workmanship but they waived it for me as i did it for my car as well you can contact Liang at 98534529 he is a nice guy and absolutely okay with you if you decided not to get it afterall
  2. think owe hdb $$$ as in the guy defaulted on his installment payments it doesn't make him a bankrupt as HDB don't sue people for defaulting they just take back the flat and sell as 'repurchased' flats possible problems arising after the first appt includes 1. seller fail to obtain permission from OA to sell his flat, so that might take some time to sought it out (if he is a bankrupt) 2. seller try means and ways to drag out the process (that applies to everyone)
  3. erm HDB don't sell insurance HPS is a CPF scheme it's best to compare the rates yourself as age and gender plays a part in determining the premium btw jakie, i think it's the other way right one person as applicant and parents as occupiers? that's my case and i got 100% coverage even when there is 2 applicants, each can get 100% coverage as well it's totally up to you to decide what kind of coverage you want
  4. hi wenniee, so sorry to hear about your problems with your ID it's really terrible to have such an irresponsible person to be 'in charge' of your renovation and about sugar, i'm so sorry to read about his injury but guess the lucky thing is he survived the fall hopefully he can learn to control his pee/poo soon
  5. this paint job he quoted, what exactly does it include it's ridiculous for a paint job to cost $2.9k UNLESS 1. it includes plastering or 2. the condition of the wall is terrible
  6. tile shops usually give discount off the display price however, the discount is given to the buyer i.e. the person making the purchase so if you are engaging a contractor to buy and lay you will be quoted the display price however, if you are buying the tile yourself and getting someone to lay you should be able to get a 20% discount i've seen a guy got 20% off the display price for buying ONE piece of tile that was to replace a damaged one at home as for myself, i got mine from hup kiong and managed to get more than 25% discount after some hard bargaining
  7. floor tiles are usually done first because it's the dirtiest job amongst the rest you wouldn't want cement splatters on your newly painted wall right? however, air-con trunking and electrical wirings can be done before the tiling esp if you intend to run some of them UNDER the tiles the 3 major tasks are always tiling, carpentry and running trunking (both electrical and air-con) tiling MUST be before carpentry for obvious reasons btw, the ceiling of a hdb flat is usually not level so using the floor is a better choice
  8. actually wall mount not necessarily mean difficult to add/remove cables get those wall mount that has a extendable arm no just you can rotate the tv to the angle you want, it also makes access the cable points much easier only downside is the price the one i'm eyeing is $390, for my 37" lcd tv

  12. so you are at anchorvale side? i'm at compassvale, just opposite the compassvale lrt station still have not had a chance to explore your area, slightly more familiar with rivervale guess that's coz the hdb branch office is there
  13. it's been a while since i've done my renovation so i'm not too sure about the current market rate however, just wanted to bring up this if you hack the wall, you either got to find the same tile to replace the area, or you gotta think of a way to 'hide' the area also, cost totally depend on how big everything is the cost of a platform that's the size of a queen size bed and a platform that's the size of the entire bedroom can differ in the thousands
  14. patrick just came to my place to quote me for some small works and also to take a look at my peeling paint turn out it's the doorframe installer who did a very bad job at patching up the hacked areas but he just said he'll get some silicon and patch up the affected areas really appreciate his willingness to take responsibility for the defects even after handing over for more than half a year
