  1. if they never own a place before, not possible to get 2 new units near each other? sorry, not too clear about your family situation .. but like applefreak said, those are very rare and very exp... btw, applefreak, someone else in the forum got a unit like that right? i vaguely remember something abt 2 kitchens... maybe can ask him... I've a friend who bought a flat and later convinced the neighbour to sell them theirs as well...and her parents bought them and they knocked down... guess she was lucky... all the best for your search!
  2. hi I don't know about the jumbo flats which were previously two units but there are many big EA/jumbo units in Woodlands and Yishun area which are listed as one flat .. the area can go up to 192 sqm... Mine was 172 sqm...
  3. Hello, can check this website out too... but quite different from blik ones as they are colourful and suits children's rooms best.. http://www.prestochangodecor.com/
  4. Europa is at: Alexandra Distripark, Block 3 3 Pasir Panjang Road #05-07/12, 118483 hmm.. i guess if u r not comfortable about DIY at all then better not... i second jamez... just choose the one you 2 like best... no worries about being common... coz i have a very commonly popular wallpaper for my living room but we are still not tired of admiring the intricacies of the flower prints on it! But frankly speaking, i think your TV console looks great as it is now... why not consider wallpapering the wall beside it and the rest of the living room walls to demarcate the area? The contrast would bring out the sleek simplicity of your console even more... well, just a thought...
  5. Hello wen & min, Nice open kitchen! If you go Europa wallpaper centre, you can get wallpaper by rolls directly as well as the glue and equipment needed... DIY can prob save half the costs since Goodrich installation is one of the most expensive around... Some other wallpaper/curtain places carry goodrich wallpaper series but charge less for installation.. you may want to check those out. hi applefreak, here you are. http://www.goodrichglobal.com/main.htm Hi Greycat, vinyl stickers not just meant for laminates... they go on any smooth surfaces (it's similar to those on cars) like walls, glass, showerscreens, doors and tiles etc.. they are different as they have adhesive behind and apply like stickers (in cut-out designs) while for wallpaper, they come in rolls and need wallpaper glue etc to paste... Hi Jamez, think pure vinyl stickers are just decals .. i'm not sure if what wen & min saw in goodrich is actually wallpaper coated with vinyl and comes in rolls (instead of cut-outs) and the type appleafreak is talking about actually wallpaper cut-outs or stick-ups coated with vinyl.. can check this page out for the different types available (sadly not all available in our local market) http://www.usawallpaper.com/walstic.html sorry wen & min, hijacked your blog a little..
  6. In fact, i'm looking to plaster over tiles in a resale flat I'll be doing up for a relative coz it's more tiring to regrout/ clean tiles than it is to paint... so i do think that ID made a decent proposal... Will use a combination of tiles and glass backsplash for areas between cabinets and hob area too... but of course, tiling whole kitchen creates a diff look and there are very unique looking tiles now which can create wallpaper effects even... Depends on a combination of budget, style needs and maintanence ability i guess.. !!
  7. Hi Zirhk, Just wanna thank you for all the advice you've given in this forum re agents. Anyway it made me decide to do selling w/o agents. And so far I'm only at the viewing stage and it has been fine. Most viewers are serious and genuinely interested to know more. But the agents! Some really pissed me off... There's one who called and asked if i'll give commission if he has a buyer. Here's the conversation: A: Will you give me commission if i have a buyer for you? me: sorry no because we will do everything includ paperwork ourselves. A: Not even 0.5 %? I brought the client leh... me: Sorry but in actual fact you're obligated to find your client a flat so you're not doing me a service. Besides, there'll be a conflict of interest since we want the highest offer possible and your client wants the lowest price possible. A: No it's not like that ... both sides have to compromise.. me: yah, precisely.. it means WE will have to compromise so .. no point... we can work that out ourselves.. A: not even an ang pow? me: yes, maybe a token of appreciation A: how much huh? lowest will be about how much? me: ??????? by now i really regret the fact that i even bother talking to him! Anyway I ended off saying me: Ok, look i have an agent friend who can help me if i need help and he's not charging me anything... so thanks a lot!! SIGH! why do such people even exist...arrghh...
  8. hihi thanks maCe and all who shared their wonderful diy cleaning tips... I've got nothing to contribute except a method i swear by when i mop my parquet and laminated flooring... I use a normal mop with the right detergent cleaner and mop first and then use a magiclean wipes kind of broom, put baby cloth diaper and then wipe dry immediately... baby cloth diaper are the most absorbent type of cloth i feel... so great for cleaning the house! keep this thread going! heee...
  9. so sleek it looks like it can cut... heee... very posh looking... I'm sure your place will look a million dollars when done so dun think about the thousands now! I'll give the local ones a miss... thanks thanks!
  10. Wow, lifestyle, your place is so vast and spacious... so nice! Can't wait to see the transformation when carpentry etc comes in... Can tell you like sleek, clean lines (from the mag pages u dog-eared) very much... heee..
  11. Jamez agreed! Tesoro, maybe you want to consider painting over some of the cabinets to change the colour or laminate them or something? coz they look like good solid wood to me... just a thought...
  12. Hi Fred, I get what you mean coz my parents are thinking of selling their JUMBO in woodlands (172 sqm) now which is made of one 4-room and one 3-room back then and i was thinking "wah, the buyer if want to renovate nice nice must hack like xiao lor.." hee... my room was actually a kitchen and so i have a balcony (which was a service balcony previously) If you like the idea of having 2 kitchens, maybe u can make one into a wet cum heavy cooking kitchen and the other into a dry pantry/ laudry area... i think it's quite cool... Hi applefreak... WAH, $440 + 40K! In which area? Really haha...
  13. Sorry Angie, hijack your thread a bit to show applefreak (and if you're interested) the DIY epoxy paint ... The original colour is similar to the flooring shown.
  14. hi, mine was diy painting... using brush and roller etc... hard work... bought epoxy paint from paint shop and change my ugly beigey yellow walls to a calm green... Spray painting is by professionals... at a few hundred $ to even one K for larger areas but effect is even and smooth... check out Air's blog... think they did it...
  15. hi power, the kitchen is so spacious!! drool drool... can have island even!
  16. hi angie, possibility of coating the bathroom tiles with epoxy paint? I did that to my kitchen wall tiles... but your bathroom ones look "brick" like, isn't very smooth so I'm not too sure if it can be done... can either engage the painters to spray (which will look good but cost a bit) or DIY paint (which we did at only $60+)... I agree with applefreak that it's quite a pity...
  17. hey Cantona7, can let me know too if JW neighbours are going to your place this sun? I would like to join in too... well, not as a sticker seller, but as a neighbour and friend... Okie Lurgee, koikoi etc ? And I love to see a well-designed home anytime, so that i can work towards my dream... !!
  18. hi retroguy, just my 2 cents worth after living with an open kitchen for half a yr.. I cook quite often... My hood is just a normal Ellane one, nothing powerful. The irony is, because it's open, somehow the fumes dissipated so thin that we dun feel the effect... till now i have not cleaned my kitchen cabinets once coz they are not oily even. that said, we have shower curtains that we put up to cover the open areas when we do deep frying... otherwise, the normal stir fry etc, we just leave it open... I would say it's a blessing to have a big kitchen if ur family do cook, go for open, go for island and go for a good hood if u r worried... Can consider hacking kitchen wall, then combine with the dining area, and then glass up the entire area... that's my dream kitchen!
  19. hmmm... do you mean thomson plaza? haha... nope... not that traditional... way beyond our budget too... Mine is the very simple modern kind of country style, if i can put it that way... wow, if can have that kind, I dun mind sleeping in my kitchen... hahaha... If you would like to see see my bedroom and kitchen, I'll be happy to send pics to you! email me at winkiesdeco@yahoo.com.sg to keep in touch, fellow country lover, that's so rare!
  20. Hi Cantona7, This is zinc aka christinetan... sorry saw my name mentioned so came here kpo... Actually i'm not sure who u r too but acc to ah kiat, you're from our estate too... as far as i can remember, hermit crab, eloi and ah wai had Angeline from intradesign as their ID... so just wondering if u r any of them/ or the other half... Hi jessi, I'm so glad the bubbles went down... Hope you and hubby are enjoying DANDY very much!
  21. Hi all, i saw potted herbs in Far East floral before... quite a variety
  22. Hi... just like to pop by to say hello and that I really like your country house!! I'm a big big country fan... Only managed to achieve a semblance of it in my kitchen and bedroom... so really your LR etc...heee...
  23. hi pineappletart, I'm definitely no expert but would just like to reassure you that I don't think the "contradiction" is necessarily a bad one... "Modern" as a theme has been overused/ wrongly applied by many ... while modern mostly refers to clean, sleek lines and emphasizes function over form, i think your button-tufted headboard may be highlighted as a softer centrepiece of the bedroom that brings out the strong tones of the rest of the room... I'm imagining if u use strong, bold, single/double tone colours for your bedsheets (stripes and repeated prints should do fine too) or use some striking/ contrasting black/white decor ... do you have anything above the headboard? A pictures or some designs that will further accentuate the modern feel should do well... hope this makes your mood lighter!
