  1. Glad that someone here has used vohringer & gave good comments on them. When I was sourcing for my laminated flooring, I emailed them for more details. By the time the sales guy rang me (2 weeks later), I have already signed up with Supreme. Will tell friends to give vohringer a try for laminate quotation next time. For those who need their website, here it goes. http://www.vohringer.com.sg/
  2. Too many choices, too little $$ in my pocket
  3. Then it is time to go into details. Know what they are giving you & what makes the diff. If for the same grade of laminated flooring, your ID is charging you lower, then press your Supreme agent to cut his price. Usually, going thru a 3rd party like your ID would mean higher price cos he needs to make some $$ for the co-ordination work with Supreme. The more you know, the bigger your bargaining power is.
  4. What is caesarstone? Something like quartz?
  5. You are lucky, brother. In just 4 mths after I moved in, the paint on my kitchen ceiling started to crack & strip off. I wrote emails to Ho Bee. I also made several calls to Mrs Quek to arrange their painter to come over to fix it. Every time I rang up, she would say the same thing, "Patrick is aware of your problem & will be arranging it..." All this was before the ghost month. I kept waiting & waiting till 2 weeks ago. I was so upset. I bought a paint brush, climbed up the ladder & painted the ceiling myself. Till today, not a single phone call from Ho Bee.
  6. Thanks for all the replies, now I know my flat is NS facing All the while I thought was due to the morning & afternoon sunlight causing extra heat to the house, hence, NS facing houses are the best to live in, peiseh peiseh
  7. You can look at other series from Kronotex, it should have something cheaper to meet your budget. Another good brand is Pergo, but I think its pricing is slightly more expensive. Someone said Pergo has a product range made in Msia for those with budget constraint. Worth to take a look. I am using Supreme. In my personal view, its quality is not as good as Kronotex. But the workmanship is quite good & after-sale service is not bad too.
  8. My house seems to be in this N-S direction. The reason I am not sure is, my living room windows are facing North, whilst my kitchen windows are facing South, however, my house is a corner unit with main door facing West. So, I don't know what the direction is of my house
  9. Hi, if you managed to get something for your marble table legs, could you pm me the contact or drop a message here? I have a piece of small granite top, hoping to get 4 legs (wood or stainless steel) to turn it into a coffee table for my cosy area. I have seen this Comfort website previously, but their table legs are quite limited, not what I am looking for. I have also tried ikea but their legs are too low for me. Don't know where else I can just buy table legs. Thanks
  10. Yes, I still sweep my house twice a week before I mop once during weekend. Although I don't see myself as the hardworking one, I just cannot stand having to walk on dusty floor during weekdays In fact, if you don't sweep or vacuum the floor before mopping, your floor is not going to be clean cos the water will become very dirty, after your mop collects the dust & hair.
  11. If we are given a choice, I think no one will go for bank loan. Their interest rate is definitely higher than HDB. Nowadays HDB makes it so hard to get their loan I can understand if buying a private property, we have to take bank loan cos HDB is not involved. But why buying a HDB flat cannot take loan from HDB?
  12. Much more ex than solid surface. Almost zero maintenance compare to solid surface.
  13. How to add 1 teaspoon of vinegar to hair ah? Just pour it onto my hair? No need to dilute with water? Afterthat, need to massage the hair or not?
  14. Yeap, Sony is a better choice. Philips & Sharp are also good.
  15. Yes, agree with wjzkev. Go ahead to buy one within your means. No point keep waiting for the cheaper ones or better specs to come. New technology keeps advancing. After you have bought one, don't look at other LCD offers liao, cos you will
  16. FS stands for Feng Shui lah.
  17. If you like the design/colour/pattern of the door & ceramic tiles, why not? You probably need to pay more to get a contractor to do the same work for you.
  18. It might be pretty hard for you to adapt to a 2nd floor unit, the smell, the pest, the noise... I lived on the 7th floor for 10 yrs before moving to a 2nd floor unit. I lived there for a year before I went overseas. Every weekend, when the cleaners drove their van to pick up the trash bin during noon, that was the most unpleasant hour of the day, very strong smell. Everytime I had to shut the kitchen & utility windows to keep the smell from entering my house. Pest was very common too. No matter how clean you maintain the house, no way you can stop croach or ant from coming to your unit. If the rats in the ground floor aren't too fat, they might even climb the walls up I find it hard to live in a low floor HDB unit in Sgp, but landed property is ok leh. Had lived in a townhouse for 2 years in overseas, the feeling was good
  19. Initially, I was a bit shocked when my friend told me his Australian lecturer chased her children out of her house when they started working, she insisted to stay alone. After seeing a few cases around me, I started to understand why angmohs are doing that. I have a female friend who would get married soon, have not got a flat yet (joining the queue with HDB), decided to stay with her parents. She claimed she has no $$ for resale flat, staying with parents would mean her parents could help to take care of her & her husband. Maybe when she has kids, her parents could also become baby sitter. Indirectly, I see her turning her parents into her maids.
  20. I reckon you knew by now where to buy the locks. As for the process, I did it this way. My contractor dismantled the main door & gate locks, passed them to my bf on a Sat morning. He immediately drove down to the shop, showed the locks to the sale guy & got himself a new set for both locks. He returned to my place, spent 1 hour sitting at the living hall DIY the changing of locks.
  21. Yes, I change the pipes all the way from entrance to toilet. I thought you said you paid $380 to a recommended plumber, how come $500 now? Can share the contact for the cheaper plumber? Next time I have friends who wants to do reno, I will recommend this cheaper plumber to them. Hopefully lesser people will get conned.
  22. Can't comment on item 1 cos my kitchen cabinet is very simple, non-suspended bottom, w/o anti-slam hinges & glass backing. I was charged $95 per foot run. As for item 2, $72 per foot run, this price is reasonable. My contractor quoted me $80 for solid surface. I went for granite eventually.
  23. But my house is just a 3i only leh, so small flat also being charged for $550. My contractor really con me liao. Don't tell me he was using gold pipe instead of copper?! EM might have to pay a bit more lah, double storey rite? Longer distance to lay the pipes lor.
