New Flat At Clementi Blk 459
waileong replied to gohkm's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
There is a story told by Peter Lynch about someone who had a $10,000 dog. When he asked him how he knew the dog was worth $10,000, he said he knew it because he had just exchanged two $5,000 cats for it. The moral of the story is that the price of something depends on what you can get for it in the open market. If you can buy at $360k and sell at $720k, more power to you! And whether the price will stay at $360k, go up to $720k or go down to $100k, no one really knows. Oscar Wilde said: “These days man knows the price of everything, but the value of nothing.” The value and intrinsic worth of something is a completely different matter from the market price. -
Property Market Boom Bubble?
waileong replied to icer's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion
Well, we can end up like Tokyo. People live 100 miles outside and take 2 hours on the bullet train into work because property is just so expensive in the city. Same has happened in New York, San Francisco, London, etc. Anything central is unaffordable, only the very rich or those who got in early can afford to live in the city, everyone else lives in the suburbs. You can imagine Singaporeans living in Jurong West Extension, Ulu Sembawang, Admiralty, etc. all taking 2-hour MRT rides each day simply because that's the only property they can afford. -

The worth of something is not determined by a few strangers' opinions. If you're not convinced about its value, don't buy. -
Wow, the 3D drawing software is fabulous!

How To Handle With Contractor When They Keep Delaying The Work?
waileong replied to SimeiSeeker's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Don't pay them. -
It would be a surprise if the kitchen wall could be hacked. But if it can, then the glass partition is not a bad idea. It allows you to observe the kids from the kitchen, if you have kids. Your glass will become oily, but thankfully glass is easy to wipe. Hoods in HDB flats do not really absorb that much oil. As there is no exhaust pipe, the filtered but still somewhat oily air will eventually dissipate to the rest of the kitchen. I doubt Fujioh is the best brand. It's an average brand, not a market leader.

If it's really reinforced, you can't hack it, there's no need to waste $$. If it was not HDB, you could build a temporary support while you relocate the reinforced wall. -

I suggest you seek proper legal counsel instead of coming here. See a lawyer. If you really want it, you have to be prepared to sue all the way. -
High Ceiling Design Idea

Your high ceilings are so lovely! -
You can engage your own electrician, someone you trust, rather than a company offering a pool of electricians.

Design Headache - Kitchen Mobile Unit With Drawers

That's really interesting. Assuming you can even move the cabinets to begin with, once they are loaded with stuff. -
I rather liked it actually. A cheap way to cover it is just to hang a painting over it.

That's even worse. Then you're managing all the subcontractors.

In current climate, good contractors prob too busy to do just one room...

Lovely greenery outside the window.
